We recently connected with Brandon Morgan and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
That’s not a hard one. My son! Around the time of my learning that I would be doing my first professional show, I learned some months before that I was be a father. That single moment is what propelled me into theatre head first. I told myself if I didn’t sell out and go all in for theatre now then it would all be for not. He is truly the reason I keep going forward daily.

Brandon, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Theatre was never a first choice career for me but I’m more thankful now for how organic the process was. I went to college for theatre, didn’t finish, didn’t perform until about 3 years after college. But that first show bit me hard! The bug got me and I have not stopped since that first show in 2012. Thick skin is somewhat mandatory for this business. There are lots of “NOs” and peaks and valleys. But once you find your groove it’s is the most rewarding profession there is.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
The best way for society to support artist and creators and keep this creative ecosystem thriving is to simply support the arts! Seriously, support the arts wherever you are in any facet or capacity. That can mean going to an art show going to a museum going to see a play helping or volunteering in a child school play, donating to your local theatre. . Whatever the avenue support the arts. The arts cultivates our minds and social skills much more than we give credit for and it would be terrible to lose those skills just because we simply don’t support the arts.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
That’s an easy one when I first started my Theater journey. I had no clue what to do or how to do it in any form. I wasn’t the best auditioner Nor was I even great at memorizing, but the one thing that I did bring to the table with me in the beginning was drive and resilience. EVERY THEATER In Houston, turn me down at least twice! I audition for practically every theater in Houston at one point and every single one of them told me no I was very discouraged, but I knew that it was only the beginning and I had so much more to offer. now fast forward 10 years and I have worked at every theater in this city at least twice or more. Moral of the story, “ if you know you can, keep doing.”
