We were lucky to catch up with Brandon Mitchell recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brandon, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
I believe to the key to being successful as an artist is loving what you do, so yes I am much happier being a creative than working a regular occupation. However, I still work a regular job and don’t knock anyone that does. Having multiple streams of income in today’s society is actually essential, so I’m even happier to be able to balance family, work, and still doing my dream job consistently.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well, I began my creative journey at the age of 5. My parents purchased a drum set for little kids after growing annoyed with me drumming on my toys. Since then, I’ve taken a creative interest in making beats and exploring sounds. Due to the military, I’ve moved around a bit until we settled in Texas, that is where my professional journey would begin. I recorded my first mixtape at the age of 18, and started making my own beats soon after that. Present day, I’ve produced for over 50 artists in the city and outside the city of San Antonio. I wasn’t satisfied with the current level I had reached, so I decided to enroll into Full Sail University Audio Engineering Program. I graduated with my Bachelors, started TEAM LaFamilia Music Group/ The Essentialz Production Company, and have been working in my own studio with my circle of clients. My goal for any artist is to ensure we get the greatest possible sound quality possible, I believe the beauty of being a creative is we are all different. I believe my sound is different many producers in the industry today, but at the same time I provide the same result and euphoric satisfaction.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Inspiring others. I feel like being an inspiration to people is the ultimate reward as a creative. You’re instilling in others energy to make their dreams a reality. Or at least inspiring others to be better people.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Actually, no. Not anymore. At this point, I’m just wanting to create and provide it to those willing to listen. I’ve put in the work to perfect a craft. I’ve covered ground to obtain somewhat of a following and to be honest I don’t want the top spot or to be the most known. I’m satisfied with just making an honest living doing what I love, and being able to afford anything my family needs. When you love to do something, for me it’s just that simple. I love to create. I love being around other creative people. If that happens to bring money in an abundance, or notoriety, or a certain social status. It won’t change my personality or how I navigate through life.
