We were lucky to catch up with Brandon Mitchell recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brandon, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
Growing up, I never realized how much my mom really had to do as a single parent, but never do I remember hearing her complain. Not about the 2-3 hour drives to and from work, or the long hours she worked just to make ends meet. She kept us focused on the important things and though as a young man I didn’t always understand, I’m more grateful for every one of those lessons today than I ever could have imagined, especially when I realized not everyone has that same determination to accomplish their dreams.
It’s because I can remember how strong she was for us that I can be strong when things are tough in my life. Hopefully, one day Juncie Studios grows enough so that I can show my appreciation in full.

Brandon, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hey everyone! My name is Brandon, and I’m a Web Developer, Web Designer, and Marketer from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
In the Bayou, Southern Hospitality is a way of life. It means treating everyone like family, no matter who they are or where they’re from. This is one of the core principles at Juncie Studios.
“Juncie” is a nickname I’ve used online since I was young. I initially started my company as “Trash Panda Development,” a humorous take on web development. However, as I grew older, I realized that Juncie has always been a part of me, and I wanted to build upon that name.
When I was growing my business, I remember how frustrating it was without a clear blueprint to follow. It caused a lot of stress, and I thought, “Everyone starting a business for the first time must feel this way.”
That’s when I decided to be the solution. I aim to make the process easier by helping businesses establish their online and social media presence without all the stress! From making them cool, modern websites, or posting content on their social media to drive traffic and generate leads – I wanted to be able to assist with it all.
Not only that, but promised I would never do it for the money, it would always be the help people. I truly believe just by doing right by others, it will always come back to bless you in some way and so far nearly half a decade into my journey it’s been paying off.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The best part about being an artist is that my job is never boring. Every day and every client brings a new challenge and a chance to learn and improve my skills. Seeing my progress over time and watching people’s reactions to my work is an amazing feeling that never gets old.

Have you ever had to pivot?
In 2020, I lost my best friend and decided it was time for a big change. Not long after, I got a scholarship offer to a coding bootcamp, which gave me a perfect chance to shake things up. After a series of tough interviews, I was awarded one of 5 scholarships out of several-thousand applicants – but with my acceptance I was presented three choices:
A) Quit my full-time job and go to school full-time.
B) Keep my job, go to school part-time, but take twice as long to finish.
C) Keep my job, go to school full-time, and barely sleep.
Of course, I chose the most intense option – C. I wanted to prove I could handle it all. I didn’t want to waste the opportunity but I knew it was going to be hard, so I had a serious talk with myself… Though I had never been the best student, I decided that no matter how hard it got, how tired I was, or what obstacles came my way, I was committed to making this work and wouldn’t let myself fail.
The schedule was crazy: I worked from 6pm to 6am, then went to school from 6am to 3pm, and only slept about 1-2 hours most days. Luckily enough, I fell in love with coding which made the task much easier. After three long months I graduated from my coding bootcamp at the top of my class and to this day, it’s still one of the things I’m most proud of accomplishing.
