We were lucky to catch up with Brandon Krum recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I would say the most meaningful project so far in my career has definitely been the horror comedy “Wolf Hollow” in which I play the character Lucky Steve! The role itself was literally written with me in mind by writer/director Mark Cantu, who I had previously worked with on his film Massacre Academy. After that collaboration, he started working on Wolf Hollow and had this character named lucky Stephen mind, but haven’t found the right Actor to portray it until we had worked together! Knowing I was a big fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger, he wrote in some really fantastic references to some of my favorite Arnold films over the years! The film is chock full of Easter eggs to movies we love! So being able to play that character and be a producer on the project has turned out to be a dream come true! After a great film festival run, and now being out on VOD annd Tubi, audiences seem to really be connecting with ‘Lucky’ and Lucky is me amped up to 11! So it’s been an honor to be a part of such a fantastic project! My first ever Funko Pop was made of the character too so the film really has a special place in my heart!
Brandon, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I began my acting career doing stage performances in Michigan, where I was born and raised. Unless you count the Jurassic Park fan film my Dad and I made back in 1994 on VHS! But since then Iv worked on films based out of New York City, Los Angeles, Florida, Texas, and the UK, and am an Actor, Producer, Director, Writer and Editor with a focus on Film, Web TV, and Theater.
I would say I’m best known for my collaboration with the Director of Jason Goes To Hell, Adam Marcus, on the Friday the 13th documentary “Hearts of Darkness: The Making of the Final Friday”, my acting roles in the 70s set film “Strix”, the horror comedy film “Wolf Hollow” I mentioned earlier, and for Producing such feature films as “Mistletoe Massacre” featuring Tom Sizemore, and the UK production titled “Nest of Vampires”, along with having reoccurring appearances on “TMZ Live” as a guest commentator.
Some of my previous work includes directing, producing, and starring in the web series “The Fantastic Show” for TheArnoldFans.com, Schwarzenegger’s official fansite! After working with director Ryan Andrew Balas, on
“Everyone Says I Look Just Like Her” in 2009, I went on to act in “The Kings of Yorktown”, a film in which he Co-Produced, under the direction of Darren Marshall (who now works at Netflix) in 2010. Later that year I performed in NYC’s Premier Haunted Attraction, Blood Manor, as Dr. Frankenstein.
In March of 2011, my documentary film, A “Classic” Tale: From Flabby To Fantastic, had its World Premier at Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “Arnold Sports Film Festival”. I plans to continue to work in both film and theater for many years and to help others build their own craft!
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
As an actor and filmmaker, there’s an old book & video combo called “ Michael Caine Acting In Film” that I have found to be incredibly useful over the years! It really does deep dive into some amazing methods of being able to bring a character to life on Film and in a way that will be consistent from one take to another. It also dives into certain camera angles annd other techniques that really help give a top notch product/performance! His anecdotes go beyond illustration of acting technique, but also cover the work ethic and professionalism needed to develop an actual career.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I would say that society as a whole, or, at least, American culture, can really help artists by demanding they get to tell their stories the way they want to! Because a lot of time we see some of these larger film, production companies, meddling in the artists, vision, which seems to hinder the overall product, even if it doesn’t necessarily quite match with the company was expecting. Film is definitely an art form, and just how the painter needs to use their own brushes and paint to make the viewer feel something, and Filmmaker needs to be able to freely use their tools to tell their story. And audiences Ken help sway these companies by supporting independent films, and other Filmmaker’s that get to tell their tale without interference.
