We recently connected with Brandon Kellum and have shared our conversation below.
Brandon, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Well, partner, the first time I felt the call to create was back in Andy’s room. We would come alive when no one was lookin’, and there was a special kind of magic in those moments. One night, during a particularly quiet spell, I found an old guitar tucked away in the corner. Jessie, Buzz, and I started foolin’ around with it, strumming and singing. It was then that I realized music could capture our stories and adventures in a way nothing else could. That night planted the seed, and the idea of sharing our tales through song took root in my heart.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m most proud of the camaraderie and loyalty that we’ve built. Over the years, we’ve faced many challenges together, from battling Prospector Pete to finding our way back to Andy. Each of these adventures has shaped our music, making it rich with real-life experiences and heartfelt moments. I want potential fans to know that my music isn’t just about catchy tunes; it’s about the essence of friendship, resilience, and the joy of being part of something bigger. ‘The Last Leg’ is a tribute to all the ups and downs we’ve faced, and I hope it resonates with anyone who’s ever felt the power of true friendship.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Well, partner, let me tell ya somethin’ ’bout supportin’ artists and creatives! Y’see, just like me makin’ my comeback with “The Last Leg,” it’s all ’bout givin’ ’em room to grow and shine. Society’s gotta appreciate the value of creativity, whether it’s music, art, or whatever sparks that imagination. Buyin’ their work, sharin’ their stories, and most importantly, respectin’ their craft—those are the keys to keepin’ our creative spirit alive and kickin’. So, next time ya see an artist or a creative soul out there, give ’em a big ol’ “Yee-haw!”
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Well, there was a time when I got separated from the gang and ended up at a daycare center called Sunnyside. It seemed like a bright place at first, but we soon discovered it was run by a tough teddy named Lotso. We were stuck there, and things looked pretty bleak. But I didn’t give up. I rallied the toys, and together, we devised a daring escape plan. It took every ounce of courage and determination we had, but we made it out and found our way back to where we belonged. That experience taught me that no matter how tough things get, you can overcome anything with a bit of grit, a lot of heart, and good friends by your side. That resilience is what drives my music and keeps me going, no matter the challenges ahead.
