We were lucky to catch up with Brandon Hill recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brandon , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My biggest goal in life has always been to build a business around my artwork, however that may happen. That’s one thing I processed at a very early age, having that I’ve been drawing all my life, and expanding my skills till this day. The intent to take everything more seriously came after my 25th birthday, then after being diagnosed with cancer and undergoing major neck surgery that October, my determination and resolve has never been stronger and more solid.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
A third of the NoblePharaohs organization, built off of artist, creators, and determined influencers out to make positive impacts within our community and world around us. My name is Brandon Hill, aka LazyEye, starting from comic books to drawing as a kid to becoming a full overall artist, painting and creating my imagination into reality. Starting off as just an athlete with artistic talent, I’ve since then grown into the artist I envisioned as a kid. Now being to the point to where I can share that same imagination and creativity with not only the people around me, but even beyond my current horizon.
I have original paintings/mixedmedia/prints etc. all for sale and available on our brand website.
Also available at any art showcase that I will be attending.
I’m continuing to grow and water my third of the brand to help the overall growth of what me and my brothers are doing.
You can support us by following our socials, visiting our website, or even coming out to a show.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
September 22nd, 2020 I went to the hospital to get tested for Covid-19 after feeling exhausted and tired. After multiple test from blood work to scans, we soon came to realize I didn’t have Covid, but I was diagnosed with major thyroid cancer. On October 13, 2020 I underwent a 14hr surgery to remove 13 different lymph nodes, leaving me with a smile scar from ear to ear on my neck.
After some time after I came to realize the nerves in my neck to upper back on my right side had been damaged, with me being a right handed artist, I didn’t know when I would be able to draw, let alone paint again.
Which kicked off “The Journey” series, after confirming I can still act on my passion, I began physical therapy and exercising as soon as I could to regain my full potential. Two years later and I’m now in the best position I’ve ever been in for my art, now showcasing and creating more and better pieces then I’ve ever expected. Finally making the position as a true artist, not only in my eyes but the eyes of my peers as well.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
When first getting started I had no money to begin my journey, but I did have support from my family. After building my name, and confidence, by doing and posting my work more I began to start working on commissions and custom orders. After cycling the money continuously I’m now in a position with my art where commissions are no longer a necessity. As I continue to grow and mold my business, the more opportunities and doors have opened for me, such as showcasing and traveling for bigger and better opportunities.
