We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brandon Burrell. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brandon below.
Hi Brandon, thanks for joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
You have to take a risk at some point in your life so why not take a risk on yourself. Support for what you do especially in music doesn’t come quick or easy so you have to have thick skin and believe in yourself even when no one else does. It’s risky continuing to do something no one expects you to be successful in. I have had so many let downs on this path I chose to walk but every morning I get up ready for wherever this path takes me weather success or failure I am a man and I would rather die trying than to live wondering what if.
Brandon, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My first start in music was in my mother’s choir. She taught me everything from annunciation to bring your emotions into the music. My band mate which is my brother Rick Reason began recording music in 2015/2016 under the name R&B but we later switched it to SeVIIn Reasons. We Signed our first record deal in may of 2021 to 824 Entertainment. Our first mainstream single is coming out July 7th, 2023 titled Down Low. We do both rap and R&B and everything is done in house. We write record and produce our own music and we work with mainly 3 beat makers. We intend on making timeless music for every emotion every person will ever feel.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being an artist is being able to express how I’m feeling in a way that allows me to reach others that feels what I feel. I can tell a woman exactly how beautiful and attractive she is to me and how much I’m in love with her and also express how angry someone has made me or how bad the have hurt me and I know a million people will listen and relate to exactly every word that I have written.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
This is called the music business!! Nothing comes free!! Even if you don’t pay any money you will pay in other ways and I want to make that very clear I asked so many people for help for information and one producer actually told me “why should I help you? No one ever helped me”. Another thing is support. The majority of people that listen to and support my music I don’t know personally. I do have people in my life that support me 1000 percent and to them I love you and thank you so much from the bottom of my heart!!! But I have also people who see I have music coming out , who has seen me working harder than I ever worked but won’t even take the time to listen to a song or to repost my ads but will be quick to post Drake might have a new album coming out or go on YouTube and try to find another mainstream artist unreleased music. The people that support you show you and those that don’t also shows you. To those walking down this path focus on the ones that support you let them be what drives you to be great!
