We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brandon Briggs. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brandon below.
Brandon, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe what it takes to be successful is to continuously look for opportunities to grow. There is always room for growth whether you are a CEO of a company or a lower tier staff member. As human beings, we should always try to ensure that we are able to have self awareness of how we are able to express our desires or interests in the best way to the world. For instance, for growth in the music industry, I constantly watch musical artists to not only hear their beautiful sounds and creativity but to also study their journey and how they were able to receive such recognition in the music industry. Another important aspect of success is never giving up. No matter what happens in your life, no matter what obstacles you face, no matter how the world perceives you, no matter what your past is, you can achieve whatever you put your mind to.
Brandon, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
When embarking on my musical journey, it started out as a way to escape the everyday world and put my emotions into words. Throughout my elementary, middle and high school years, I would try to write various short stories and poems that would express my emotions or creativity. As time continued in my college, I continued to write different songs that would be like journal entries to express how I feel or just conceptualizing my life experiences. I performed for the first time during a pageant for the Mu Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and felt like I found a calling for myself. After this performance, I began to slowly come out of shell with performing different song covers for social media. At this point, I had different songs written but I felt I was not ready to move forward with recording and did not even know where to start. After finally doing research and put on my big boy pants, I finally released my first single “Pain” in December of 2022. Since then, I have continued performing, created various projects such as Hurt H03 Music EP, Not So Special single, and Luv U single. I have also partnered with Hitmkr to create amazing songs named Love You Better and Nasty with a great engineer named TJ $uave. I am excited for the future of my music and various projects I wish to bring to the world!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
What I believe has been most effective with the marketing of my music is networking during various events and being my authentic self to the listeners. I love to meet new people and I always try to be true self to everyone I come across. Authenticity is what gains the trust of people and allows them to connect with my artistry.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn is keep moving forward. Throughout my life, there have been setbacks as in financial hardships, being one with my identity, gaining self confidence, and persevering through difficult situations. There have been times where I would want to give up and just continue doing the regular 9-5 work then going home routine. I then realized that even though these things may happen, I have to keep moving forward and pursuing my dreams. Many people do not have the opportunities or chances that I have been granted throughout my lifetime so I believe I need to take advantage. We only get one life and we have to make the best of it.
