We were lucky to catch up with Brandon Boyd recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brandon, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
I believe what sets my photography business apart is my approach to working with clients. I enjoy creating a fun and relaxed atmosphere during photo shoots, which allows my clients to feel more comfortable and natural in front of the camera. This normally leads to more candid and authentic photos which is something that many clients enjoy. By using a more laid-back approach, I’m able to create a unique and fun experience for my clients.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have always shown an interest in photography. About 10 years ago, I met a friend during college who did photography as a side hustle. Eventually, her business started growing and I stepped in when I could and helped her out with weddings, senior photos, and lifestyle sessions as an assistant and a second shooter. I started to enjoy the work even more and continued to work with her when I could during my college years. I then graduated from college in 2018 and began my career in education. After a couple of years of teaching, I was feeling a push to start my own photography business. In 2020, I bought a camera, set up a website, and started advertising my little business. In just under three years, I have photographed over 150 families and couples!
Overall, I am known for photographing weddings, family photos, engagements, maternity sessions, and senior pictures. It’s my goal to capture the candid moments in a person’s life. I want my client’s time with me to simply just be fun, relaxing, and full of laughter. I want my clients to be able to look back at their pictures and be able to cherish them for a lifetime. I believe that everyone should have a chance to have these moments captured for them!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Word of mouth has definitely been the best source of new clients for me. I’ve found that when I do a great job for one client, they’re often more than happy to recommend me to their friends and family. I think this is because photography is such a personal and intimate experience, and when clients feel comfortable and happy with the results, they’re more likely to share their positive experience with others. I’ve also found that social media has been a great way to showcase my work and attract new clients. By sharing my work on Instagram and Facebook, I’m able to reach a wider audience and show people what I’m capable of.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think my reputation within the market has been built on several different factors. I believe it’s my skills as a photographer that have set me apart from others in the industry. I’ve spent time honing my craft and learning how to capture the “best shot.” I also believe that my commitment to providing excellent customer service and going above and beyond for my clients has helped me build a strong reputation within the market.
