We were lucky to catch up with Brandon Angulo recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon , thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The birth of Brxndoo Clothing came from ideas I had in High School coming to life after I had released my first project. I always had the idea of having my own clothing line from when I was a Freshman in High School. I loved creating my own designs and having them match color ways and stick out to what’s in at the moment. My unique idea was to match what’s going on with the music onto the clothes. It was a way to beat recreate my music projects onto pieces of clothing.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Brxndoo. (Bran-Doh)
My story is I was born in LA and raised in the 805 and have always had a passion for music. I was on a record with Gnarls Barkley when I was young and fell in love with making music. I learned how to record music on a DAW and went from there.
My music is something I can’t honestly give an absolute answer to. I try my best to make every project completely different from the last. I’m (as some would say) unpredictable when it comes to my products. You really never know what you’re gonna get from any of my releases. I always want to surprise the people who view my art.
Brxndoo Clothing is my way of transferring my visual and inner feelings of the music to apparel. It’ll always be the way I express myself in ways music can’t.
Amor Y Celos is a record that I’m most proud of. This project has been capturing what I’ve been feeling and experiencing since the release of my last record “Takeover”. I’ve always had a love for Spanish Music and the way it’s made so I wanted to do something different with this album. Every song on this album represents stages of my life since 2021 and what I say/feel in my love life.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I’d say when collaborating doesn’t go to plan. Collaborating is something where it needs to be 50/50 and sometimes it won’t go to plan. There’s been many projects that have gotten shelved or lost due to time constraints and other reasons.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Having everyone on the same page is a must. I’m great full for my Creative Director (Liam Flynn) and my Photographer (Jacob Balken) for always having my back when it comes to Brxndoo Clothing. They’re the reason why everything has come to life and all these projects being out on time and looking great. When we all share the same vision to be the best and look the best, our ideas start to become a reality.
