We recently connected with Brandon and Donny and have shared our conversation below.

Brandon and Donny, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

The idea for Humble Threads started in the summer of 2023. At the time, both of us (Donny and I), without realizing it, had been looking for hats with unique Christian patches that we could wear as a way to share our faith.

The designs we found felt repetitive and uninspiring. We wanted something creative, something that reflected faith in a fresh way and could also start meaningful conversations.

One day, while joking about our shared struggle, we said, “Maybe we should just make our own.” What began as a laugh quickly turned into action. Donny started sketching and creating original patch designs, and before long, the idea had grown from a casual conversation into a vision for a brand.

That vision became Humble Threads, a company dedicated to creating quality hats, patches, stickers, and apparel that carry faith into everyday life. What started with a simple desire for better designs has become a mission to make faith wearable, bold, and authentic.

Brandon and Donny, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Humble Threads began with a simple idea: faith and fashion can go hand in hand. We wanted to create something more than just the repetitive Christian apparel you typically see, we wanted to give people a way to wear their faith boldly, humbly, and authentically in everyday life.

What started small, with just a few designs and a passion for spreading the message of Christ, has grown into a brand rooted in purpose. From hats and stickers to patches and soon t-shirts and hoodies, every product we create is designed to be a conversation starter and a reminder of where our identity truly lies.

Our mission is simple: to inspire humility, encourage boldness in faith, and bring light into everyday spaces. We believe clothing is more than fabric, it’s a way to express what matters most. That’s why every piece at Humble Threads is made with intentional design, quality materials, and a focus on sharing the hope found in Christ.

Whether it’s through a hat, a sticker on a laptop, or a hoodie worn around town, our goal is the same: to spark conversations about faith, encourage others, and remind people that humility isn’t weakness, it’s strength rooted in love.

At Humble Threads, we’re not just building a brand. We’re building a community of believers who are unashamed to live out their faith and inspire others to do the same.

Has your business ever had a near-death moment? Would you mind sharing the story?

When we first launched, we partnered with several patch manufacturers, one of which was based in China. We had sent the majority of our designs to that company, investing not only most of our startup funds but also much of our hope in getting those first patches produced.

After weeks of back-and-forth perfecting the designs, the unthinkable happened, the company’s website was hacked and taken for ransom. Suddenly, communication became chaotic. We started receiving emails from two different people, both using the same company address, each claiming to be legitimate. We had no way of knowing who, if anyone, was telling the truth.

The reality hit us hard: we had put most of our eggs in one basket, and it looked like we might have lost it all. For a time, it felt like the dream of Humble Threads had ended before it had truly begun.

But instead of rushing into a bad decision, we chose to wait it out. For several long months, we prayed, stayed patient, and held onto faith that somehow things would work out. To our relief, the company eventually came back online and was able to finish making our patches.

Looking back, that near-death moment taught us an invaluable lesson about trust, patience, and perseverance. It reminded us that while obstacles can shake us, they don’t have to break us. That experience shaped the way we now approach our business—with faith at the center and resilience as part of our story.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

For us, growth isn’t just about numbers, it’s about relationships. At Humble Threads, we strive to treat every customer the way Jesus would: with care, respect, and genuine gratitude.

That philosophy shapes everything we do. We only use high-quality products, and every item is personally inspected before it’s sent out. Each package also includes a handwritten thank-you note, because we believe keeping a personal touch is essential in a world that has become so impersonal.

Our most effective strategy, then, is simple: love people well. By creating meaningful connections and showing customers that they matter, we’re not just building a brand, we’re building a community.
