We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brandon and Brillyone Stumon. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brandon and Brillyone below.
Alright, Brandon and Brillyone thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The idea of our business came from the my husbands (Brandon) love for popcorn. When my husband was kid every day after school he would do his homework then make himself some popcorn. Even with the advances of technology he still prefers to pop his popcorn on the stove the old school way. We always wanted to own a business and we had been researching different franchises to purchase. I (Brillyone) was talking to a friend one day telling them about all our researching and the different ideas and he said how about popcorn? I then said yes we looked into different popcorn companies and he said know start your own popcorn company. We had not even thought to start from scratch previously every idea we had came up in the past was looking more on the franchise aspect. I brought the idea to my husband and he loved it. He knew that his love for popcorn would allow him to actually enjoy making popcorn to sell.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We are a husband and wife couple running the business. I am a full time pharmacist and Brandon is a full time teacher/coach. We have 4 small children. We make gourmet specialty popcorn in over 20 different flavors. We can make it in many colors to go with a theme or color scheme for events. We also make chocolate covered treats like pretzels and Oreos and Rice Crispy Treats in multiple colors for different parties and events. Our customer service sets us apart. We make deliveries to our customers at a time most convenient for them. We take pride in our work due to we are up late night filling orders after homework and dinner and bedtime is complete. We don’t have extra workers we are a mighty team of two. Majority of our popcorn is nut free and we even offer two gluten free options. We love doing community events.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
We had to unlearn that we cannot do it all. Backstory: to stay mean we were trying to manage every aspect about our company even our social media page. Unfortunately our social media page began to lack due to our responsibilities of family and business it was an after thought. We did not want to spend the money to pay a social media manager but we knew the possibility of increase it could bring into the business with an active page. So we decided to hire a social media manager and it’s been life changing to know it’s being handled and we don’t have to focus on that so much.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Working community events is what helped us build our reputation in the market. We work farmers market, we do school events and teacher appreciation for the schools in our community and we do HOA events for the schools in our community this really helped us build our reputation and gain new customers
