We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brandie Reamy-Johnson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Brandie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?
Word of mouth is always the best type of advertising. Without personal reviews, what does your business stand on? Friends and family know you, they know your personality, your work ethic, and your drive. It never hurts to ask your friends and family to support you, some will and some will not, and THAT IS OKAY! I started my private Boudoir Facebook group about 15 months ago, and I am so happy with how it’s grown. We have fun talks, intimate talks, but are mainly just there to lift up each other’s crowns. Of course, the giveaways are always fun! I love giving back to the ones that are supportive.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Brandie, I from the Metro Detroit area and I’ve always had a love and passion for photography and business. Capturing the moments, the memories, and meeting tons of new friends and faces along the way. I’ve been doing photography off and on for about 7 years, but I decided I wanted to take it to the next step about 2 years ago. I upgraded all of my equipment, took additional classes online and at our local college, and have really tried to invest in my business, but most importantly myself. I do not do photography full time, although it is a goal of mine, I actually have a desk job Monday-Friday. If there’s one thing I can promise my clients during a session is that we are DEFINITELY going to laugh! I’m your biggest cheerleader during your session, especially when it comes to Boudoir.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
REFERRALS! Hands down, the referrals.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Staying active on social media (HUGE!), word of mouth advertising, a few sponsored ads, giveaways to my clients and followers.
