We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brandie Moravek a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Brandie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?
In order to become successful in anything, it takes hard work, determination, and having a growth mindset. I think that all too often people quit or stop focusing on the positive outcome when things become too difficult or when things don’t go ” according to plan” as how they envisioned it going. Success doesn’t happen overnight; because, if it did, everyone would be successful in all the things.
Brandie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Brandie Moravek…a woman raised in East Texas who got a college degree in English and Spanish, and left being a classroom teacher after 21 years to pursue something completely out of her comfort zone…sales.
I started selling Color Street in November 2018 after learning more about it from my younger sister, and wanting to do and experience something new in life. Color Street is so fun! I sell 100% nail polish strips to people that want a convenient, inexpensive, and no hassle experience to have pretty nails. Over the four years of being with this company, we have expanded from nail polish to hand and nail care, and now lip products! Being a part of a company and living through the growth has been amazing. I can now officially say that I have fully transitioned from being Mrs. Moravek in the classroom to Nailin it with Brandie in social media selling and I absolutely love it.
While being on this Nailin It with Brandie journey, the thing I am most proud of is the amazing people I have met along the way that I now call dear friends. Whether it be the friends in my VIP group on social media called Nailin It with Brandie or the friends that have joined me on this journey in Team Nailin It. Everyone is so welcoming, encouraging, and loving, and I love each and every single one of them.
How did you build your audience on social media?
The biggest advice I can pass along to anyone wanting to build a social media presence comes in two small words that have the largest impact: Be yourself. There is no fantastic recipe nor extensive training needing to attend, it is literally just be yourself. When you embrace being yourself on social media, it becomes easier to show up everyday. There is no planned script needed nor a rehearsal when you show up as yourself.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Never in a million years did I think I would leave the classroom as a full time teacher. When my side hustle became more fun and teaching became more stressful, I spent more time on Color Street after school late into the evenings and I enjoyed it! It was becoming my favorite part of the day! I was making connections with my team of friends, I was meeting new people while having online parties, I was putting free samples in the mail and getting so excited for others to try this new product, and then after a few months of that, the pay was rewarding and I could see the fruition actually taking place!
So, when my side hustle surpassed my main hustle in pay every month, it became a no brainer for me. I could not justify remaining in a career that was being filled with unnecessary stressors while my side hustle was fun, stress free, and super enjoyable. I left the classroom after 21 years and my life and health have never been better because of it.
