We recently connected with Brandie Johnson and have shared our conversation below.
Brandie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
Starting a business is a whirlwind. I didn’t know what I was doing, weddings, couples, families, I accepted any client that was recommended to me because I knew that photos were so important for people to have tangible evidence that their life was magical. However, I often felt out of place at these events. I was beyond excited for these people, but it never felt like I could give them what other photographers could because I was an outsider. I sat down and thought about a shoot that really excited me, it was a shoot for a realtor and we had the best time picking out outfits, locations, and really putting her personality into each photo. I loved being able to wrap up her business into thoughtfully curated photos that would be utilized for years to come! So, I pivoted. My business became one where I help other women tell their brand story. I am able to listen to each journey, create a session that is tailored around their vision, and provide a unique session for each client. Success is relative. I am not the most booked photographer, but I have created successful relationships with every single client and they continue to use my services through every change in their business, and that is worth it for me.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Brandie! A photographer focused on telling your brand’s story and showing off what makes your business special- YOU. I offer two types of sessions, plus custom packages if one of my sessions isn’t big enough for the project. One of the problems I find businesses facing is feeding the various social platforms with content. Depending on how active a client is these sessions can provide photos for their website, socials, emails, for a month or even a year! I’ve made my packages approachable in price, so that we can both make a living doing what we love.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Word of mouth. I don’t know a stranger, I talk to anyone who wants to talk to me, and that has resulted in project after project.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Social media is my favorite way to stay connected with clients. I am actively commenting, reacting, or messaging them about what’s going on in their lives.
