We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brandi Wolf. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brandi below.
Brandi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the story behind how you got your first job in field that you currently practice in.
The journey of finding myself has taken me down a winding road of laughter, pain, joy, sadness, excitement, stress, and anxiety…along with a myriad of other emotions…BIG and small. Consistently meditating has been one of the best gifts I have ever given myself. It helped me heal my heart after a handful of years that consisted of my father’s suicide, a heartbreaking divorce, the economy falling and loosing my business and filing bankruptcy, a miscarriage, and another suicide of someone close to my heart.
From 2002 to 2010, it felt like a continuous string of pain and trauma that was hard to overcome. Sleeping was inconsistent, my stress was high and I often felt like an empty crossroad in the middle of nowhere stood smack square in the center of my life. My days felt empty and isolated in spite of having people around that loved and supported me. As a single mom I had to keep it together for my sweetheart of a daughter and it was not always easy.
I was no stranger to meditation, but it was the consistency and ritual of meditation that helped me to start the healing process. Gradually, I started building a daily practice. Peeling back the layers and releasing the pain deep in my chest. As I welcomed more peace, calm, and love in…I gained a new perspective and started living a more mindful and heart centered life. Our journeys are all unique and messy and beautiful…and unexpected, the list goes on. This lead me to signing up to become a meditation teacher. At the time, it was for me. To expand my growth and deeper into my heart and build an even stronger practice. In 2021 I graduated and became a Master of Wisdom & Meditation teacher through davidji’s Meditation Academy. It took me about ten months of nudges to agree to start teaching. And once I did, things started moving. I enrolled in the advanced course, Deeper Still (graduated May 2023) and started working at an addiction recovery center for men, teaching in-person classes, guest speaking and am currently developing online virtual classes

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I can help others find the stillness and silence that rests within and find the tools to help them build a deeper relationship with themselves. Meditation helps to peel back the layers of conditioning and lead a more calm and authentic life.
The daily challenges of life can cause stress, anxiety, fear, and overwhelm all while having an impact on our relationships, work-life, emotions, along with our mental and physical bodies. Do you wake up at night with thoughts racing? Do you long for some peace? Stillness? Emotional freedom?
This is something I do from my heart, I help others connect to the essence of who they are. We have a dis-ease of “busy” in life and rarely do we give ourselves the permission to sit in an “awake” state while we go within and rest. It’s a gift that we can benefit from and that all the people around us can benefit from. The true benefits of meditation show up while we are engaging with others with more peace, more calm, more clarity and live a more heart centered life. Meditation slows the swirl which allows us to be more present in our own lives and with loved ones. The mindfulness gained through meditation is the best gift one can give themselves.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
The most helpful thing for me is to maintain my own ritual of meditation. Without that, there would be no meditation business. I have to keep doing the “thing” and growing myself. Basically keeping my side of the street clean so when others come to visit, the energy is good, the space is clear and as high-vibing as it can be that day. It’s also something I’m passionate about. I know the benefits of meditation as I’ve seen them in myself, I’ve been in the mud, I’ve been in the low places. When you are passionate and know the true benefits of something, it is easy to share and easy to find success.

Any advice for managing a team?
This is a piggy-back to the last question. My biggest piece of advise is to keep your side of the street clean. Which means building that relationship with yourself, let go of defensiveness and reactivity, let go of letting the ego run the show. Move from your head down into your heart space and let your heart space drive the car. Our hearts have 40k cells in them that learn and think independently of our cranial brain. Our brain cannot make decisions without the heart, but as a society we have been taught that our brain is the only place that really matters and that relying on our heart space is “emotional”. Having emotions is called being human. When we can clean up the story of our past, let go of that story(s) and become more authentic, we become a better boss, a better leader, a better human and grow our compassion for ourselves and for others. The wisdom we are seeking is in the vast space of within. It just takes a practice and ritual to access a better version of yourself.
