We were lucky to catch up with Brandi Swift recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brandi, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Since I was 14 I’ve been a hustler. I’ve probably hustled more as a mother than anytime before. There is so much pressure on mother’s and always has been. I created another Hustlher to support all the mothers that hustle to take care of their family by any means necessary. To give them a spotlight yo be acknowledged and feel good about themselves. No this is not a pat on the back for doing things were are suppose to do as mothers but more so a way of showing them appreciation when they not by choice have to take care of everything alone.
Brandi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Brandi Swift. At one point of my life I was a single mother of 3. I created Mother Hustlher to be for other who I needed for myself. Although I was a single mother for a short period of time (2.5 years) it opened my eyes to a lot of things. There were time I had absolutely no one to depend on and I had to make a way by any means necessary. Mother Hustlher is a lifestyle and a mood but regardless of what is thrown our way a real mother is going to figure it out. I know what it feels like to be alone, what it feels like to have to change plans 30 minutes before having to be at work, what it feels like to be sick and still have to tend to responsibilities, to not have money to feed yourself and children so you starve so they can eat. It’s a rough job but someone has to do it. I created another Hustlher so those mothers don’t feel alone.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Mother Hustlher is formally known as Single Handed Together. I changed the name of my business because Single Handed was started when I became a single mother. Almost 3 years later I found my soulmate and had two more children. I then refocused my brand to fit all mothers. All mothers hustle whether single or not. The pressure is on us and no matter what we make it happen.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I’m still actually learning how to gain an audience. I have caved into reels or tik tock and not sure if I will. When I first started my business I did giveaways. When I made a post and someone commented I genuinely replied back. I genuinely replied to my messages. I never want to get to a point where I can talk with my audience. Never forget where you came from or where you started.
