We recently connected with Brandi Phillips and have shared our conversation below.
Brandi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success is a term a lot of people, including myself, admire. I think becoming a success story is: being disciplined (upgrading or improving your habits), consistency (doing something you love over and over to achieve the results you are seeking), reading or listening to podcasts (staying knowledgeable in your area of expertise), networking (keeping in contact with like-minded individuals who share the same dreams or goals as you) and even isolation (knowing when to keep yourself away from the crowd and tune in with yourself)
Brandi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Brandi Phillips and I relocated to Atlanta, GA five years ago from my small hometown. I began my modeling journey then and pursued it even more when I moved to the capital of Georgia. I signed with my first modeling agency, met incredible business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs thus, starting to love the city life. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit. This past summer I finally launched my first project, a motivational quote book titled “From the Darkness to the Light: Channeling Pain into Purpose.” This is great for kids, preteens and adults. I understand there’s a lot of recent negativity and even amongst our generation and this journal was created to release any type of emotion and to help readers focus on their dreams and endeavors. Most, if not, all of these quotes are original thought-provoking quotes that were created by my spirituality when I was going through the move from my hometown to Atlanta and even trying to settle in Atlanta. Everything said in my book is truly from my heart and experiences.
What do you find most rewarding about being creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is FREEDOM. I am a millennial and I’m sure my generation can understand this point. I need freedom and flexibility to truly be myself. I need to be mobile. I honestly dislike being bound down in one location for years and years. This is not what I see myself doing. To me, being a creative allows you to express yourself and tap into your happiness which is a blessing because it is challenging trying to be in an open-minded environment and do the work you love you are inspired to do.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me is definitely networking! I love meeting new people. I love people from all backgrounds, ages, generations and so forth. I just like vibing with someone and then it becomes a destined connection. It is true what is said – strangers and people you barely know will support you before friends and family. New connections and new friendships are necessary as well as the consistent and loyal people we have in our lives.
