We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brandi Perry a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Brandi thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I’ve always been passionate about helping women elevate themselves, refine their image, and become the best version of who they are. That passion comes from my background as a model, makeup artist, and stylist, where I learned how powerful presentation and self-confidence can be. Over the years, I realized it wasn’t just about outer beauty, but about helping women feel good from the inside out. When you look your best, you show up differently, and that confidence carries into every part of your life.
My transition into influencing and content creation happened naturally. I’ve always been the friend women came to for advice on everything from fashion and skincare to dating and personal growth. Turning that into a brand and a platform just felt like the next step. I’ve been doing this for about two years now, and while the term “influencer” can sound a bit overused, I’ve learned to embrace it because of what it truly means—having influence and using it to inspire others.
Looking back, I don’t think there’s much I could have done to speed up the process besides starting sooner. Every experience, mistake, and lesson shaped how I approach my work today. Building a personal brand takes time, consistency, and self-discovery. You have to learn what resonates with your audience and what feels authentic to you.
What keeps me inspired is knowing that I can help women transform the way they see themselves. Whether it’s through style tips, beauty routines, or confidence coaching, I love creating spaces where women feel empowered to glow up in every area of their lives. This isn’t just about appearance—it’s about helping women step into their power, one level-up at a time.
The most essential skill for me has definitely been editing. In 2025, content creation is constantly evolving, and strong editing skills are what make your videos stand out. Filming and sharing advice comes naturally to me, but editing—cropping, pacing, storytelling—can be a challenge. That’s where the real creativity happens. I’ve learned that editing isn’t just about putting clips together; it’s about capturing attention, creating emotion, and keeping viewers engaged from start to finish.
Another essential skill is staying on top of trends. The industry changes fast, so you have to be aware of what’s relevant without losing your unique voice. I make it a point to study what others are doing, not to copy, but to learn. I notice what works—certain angles, transitions, or styles—and then find ways to make it fit my personal brand.
As for obstacles, my biggest one has been myself. Staying motivated and consistent can be tough. It’s easy to get caught up scrolling through social media instead of creating. There are times when I overthink or lose focus, so I’ve had to build structure into my routine. Creating a content plan and setting filming days helps me stay disciplined.
Another challenge is balancing real life with content creation. When I’m out with friends or enjoying the moment, I’m also thinking about capturing content. It can feel awkward at times saying, “Wait, let me record this!” But my friends understand now that it’s part of what I do. Over time, I’ve learned to find balance between enjoying the moment and recognizing that those same moments can inspire great content.

Brandi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Brandi, a beauty and lifestyle influencer, image consultant, and content creator based in the Washington, DC area. My work centers around helping women elevate their confidence, style, and overall presence—both online and in real life. I believe that when a woman feels good about herself, it changes how she shows up in every part of her life.
My journey started years ago when I worked as a model, makeup artist, and stylist. I’ve always loved the transformation process—helping women see their own beauty and potential. That passion naturally evolved into image consulting and content creation. Over time, I realized my gift wasn’t just in making people look good, but in showing them how to feel good and build an image that matches the life they want.
Today, I offer services and digital products designed to help women improve their personal brand, confidence, and appearance. Through my image consulting business, I help clients refine their style, upgrade their look, and present themselves with confidence. On the influencer side, I collaborate with brands in beauty, fashion, and lifestyle, creating high-quality content that feels authentic and inspiring. I also create digital products like media kit templates, social media strategy workbooks, and influencer starter kits to help others break into the industry and monetize their presence.
What sets me apart is authenticity. I genuinely care about the women who follow me and the clients I work with. My approach is personal, relatable, and realistic. I don’t just focus on surface-level aesthetics—I teach women how to elevate their mindset, habits, and energy so that the changes they make are sustainable. I’ve always been the girl people come to for advice on everything from skincare routines to business moves, and I’ve turned that into a brand built on trust, connection, and results.
What I’m most proud of is the community I’ve built. Every message I get from someone saying I’ve inspired them to level up or feel more confident reminds me why I do this. My goal is to continue empowering women to take control of their image, their story, and their success. I want people to know that my brand isn’t just about looking good—it’s about becoming your best self, inside and out.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A major lesson I had to unlearn was learning how not putting myself first. For a long time, I was in a toxic relationship that made it difficult to prioritize my own needs, wants, and desires. I became so focused on others that I lost touch with who I was and what made me happy. When that relationship ended, I started therapy, and one of the first questions my therapist asked me was, “What are the things that make you happy?” That question stopped me in my tracks. I didn’t have an answer because I hadn’t thought about myself in years.
That moment was a turning point for me. I realized how disconnected I’d become from my own happiness, and I made a decision to rebuild my life around myself. It wasn’t easy, but learning to make space for my own needs changed everything. I started exploring what I loved again, rediscovering my passions, and taking real action toward creating a life that reflected who I wanted to be.
Now, that mindset shift guides everything I do. I meet so many women—friends, followers, and clients—who are in similar situations, stuck in cycles where they’ve forgotten to prioritize themselves. It’s something I recognize immediately because I’ve lived it. It’s painful to watch, but it also motivates me.
I do what I do to help women wake up to their power and remember who they are outside of their relationships, titles, and routines. I want to be the reminder that it’s never too late to start over, to want more, and to actually go after it. My goal is to provide guidance, support, and real tools to help women make that shift—to see that happiness, confidence, and self-fulfillment aren’t out of reach. They just start with choosing yourself first.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
There are so many resources that have helped me grow, but one that truly changed my life was discovering SheraSeven on YouTube. A close friend introduced me to her content back in 2018, and I’ve been watching her ever since. Her videos opened my eyes to the importance of putting myself first, building my own business, setting standards, and being intentional about what I want. She really emphasizes self-worth, mindset, and taking action—not just talking about your goals, but doing the work to make them real. That message stuck with me.
I’ve always believed that the resources we need to grow are usually right in front of us—we just have to be willing to seek them out and apply what we learn. SheraSeven’s content pushed me to start prioritizing myself, building structure in my life, and focusing on personal development.
Another big resource for me is Pinterest. I’m a very visual person, so I love creating mood boards and vision boards. They help me visualize my goals and stay aligned with my brand. Whether it’s for content ideas, style inspiration, or mindset shifts, Pinterest keeps me grounded and creative. Seeing my vision laid out visually motivates me to keep evolving and reminds me of the bigger picture I’m working toward.
Those two tools—intentional learning and visual planning—have played a huge role in keeping me consistent, focused, and inspired on my journey.
