Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brandi Myers. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Brandi thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I believe what it takes to be successful is consistency and belief in yourself. Being consistent at practicing your craft, marketing yourself, networking, and even self care will go a long way in becoming successful. It shows great strength that even though you don’t feel like doing something, you make a way to push through! Believing in yourself is also a huge plus to becoming successful, because when you have ideas and a vision for something you feel strongly about, other people may not understand. Believe in yourself when no one else will!
Brandi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello everyone! I am Brandi and I own my business called Brandi Myers Photography & Design! In college; North Carolina Central University, I was apart of our newspaper as a journalist and photographer. I traveled around Durham taking pictures of everything related to the story i was reporting on. And from there, I started getting more and more into photography! Shooting campus events, friends, and random landscapes with my very first camera the Canon Rebel XS! I finally registered my photography business as an LLC back in 2014! I watched YouTube videos and went to photographer networking events to get better at lighting, posing, and the business of photography. I now focus on high school and college seniors, weddings and engagements, branding, maternity, and family photography! I absolutely love it!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience on social media by word of mouth and promoting my work online. When you give your clients the best experience, they automatically share your business with their friends and family! I always keep this statement in my mind from a friend; out of sight, out of mind, meaning when you’re not visible, it’s hard for people to keep you on their minds. So stay visible doing something! Show your work so people will remember you!
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Something that I had to unlearn is that everyone is not your client! I used to cater to any and everyone and I became burned out! I now just focus on weddings, seniors, family, and maternity photography.
