Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brandi Lilley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brandi, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Thank you for taking the time to chat with me. I’d love to share our story.
Luneer Mgmt’s mission is deeply rooted in our purpose. Our drive is to help small business owners build new and holistic relationships with their businesses. Navigating the challenges of running a small business while also juggling personal life is difficult; we get it! Our goal is to take this overwhelming task off our clients’ plates so that they can develop the lifestyle they want and return to doing what they love most.
The first thing you should know about Luneer Mgmt is that we are dream keepers. We get to know our clients by giving them full attention and care so that we can tailor our services to their specific goals and visions. When I take on a new client, I don’t see it as “work.” To me and my team, each onboarding is the start of a practical and transformative journey. We take immense pride in our commitment to inclusivity and our flexibility in working with neurodivergent clients, ensuring that we create a supportive and understanding environment for all. By dedicating ourselves to the pillars of our approach (honesty and transparency), we strive to become a team our clients can trust and lean on to help them get where they want to go.
The second thing you should know is that we offer extremely practical help and solutions! Dreams come to life through the slow and steady continuance of nitty, gritty business tasks. As a one-stop shop, we provide a comprehensive range of services (SEO, administrative support, CRM set-up, social-media management, etc.) that allow us to organize and grow businesses virtually while freeing owners up to focus on whatever it was that sparked them to start a business in the first place It’s important to me that any tasks we do for our clients are handled by experts; we want you to have peace of mind that your business will function at its fullest while you have more time to work productively and efficiently within your area of expertise.
In short, Luneer Mgmt is more than just a service provider. We are a team of dedicated individuals who take joy in turning messes into magic and making a meaningful difference in the lives of the overwhelmed and busy entrepreneurs we serve. As we streamline our clients’ businesses, maximize their time, and offer unwavering support, they regain their passion and focus on what they love most. Nothing makes us happier than watching a person bring their unique light to the world; we feel privileged to get to play a role in having this happen more often in our modern day.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Sure! My name is Brandi Lilley, and I’m the founder and CEO of Luneer Mgmt. My background includes over fifteen years of experience in the theatre and event industry as a designer, manager, and performer. I also spent over three years in the fitness industry as a studio manager and instructor. These experiences and my diverse background have been the driving force behind the inception of Luneer Mgmt.
During the pandemic, I more-fully recognized the challenges faced by online business owners. My passion for making people’s lives easier and helping them achieve their goals kicked into hyperdrive and led to a pivotal moment in 2020. As fitness instructors transitioned their classes online, I noticed their significant need for administrative support. I stepped in as a Digital Studio Manager, offering comprehensive assistance, from organizing online studios to handling customer service requests, building websites, and managing social media accounts. This experience illuminated to me a larger need not just for the fitness industry, but also for all entrepreneurs and busy individuals across various domains. I started and opened Luneer Mgmt for this purpose.
Any advice for managing a team?
Managing and maintaining high morale among a team can be a dynamic and nuanced process. Every team member is a unique individual with their own needs and working styles. To foster a thriving and motivated team, it is crucial to consider individual differences and provide personalized support. Here are some pieces of advice that I’ve learned along the way to effectively manage a team and maintain high morale:
Emphasize Individuality: Recognize that each team member works differently and has distinct strengths and preferences. This is a good thing for you and your business! Encourage open communication and actively seek to understand what makes each individual succeed. Take the time to get to know your team on a personal level, allowing you to tailor your approach to meet their specific needs. When each member of your team can work within their individuality, your whole team is leveraged for success.
Foster Flexibility: Embrace flexibility in team organization and guidelines to accommodate different working styles and preferences. Allow team members to work in ways that align with their values and strengths. Some may thrive in a 1:1 setting, while others prefer asynchronous communication. By offering flexible options, you empower team members to perform at their best.
Support Well-being: Many business owners overlook the crucial role that well-being plays in maintaining high morale. Offer wellness support and resources to team members, acknowledging that some individuals may need additional support to perform optimally. This can include promoting work-life balance, providing wellness programs, or offering mental health resources. A team that focuses on and fosters personal well-being is a business that is healthy from the ground up.
Tailor Feedback: Adapt your feedback style to suit the individual preferences of team members. While some may appreciate direct, in-the-moment feedback, others may respond better to constructive criticism delivered in a private setting. Tailored feedback shows that you value each team member’s growth and development.
Encourage Collaboration: People inspire people. Promote a collaborative and supportive team culture where team members can learn from and support one another. Encourage knowledge-sharing, team brainstorming sessions, and peer mentorship opportunities. A sense of camaraderie and shared purpose can boost team morale.
Celebrate Achievements: Recognize and celebrate the achievements and contributions of individual team members. Publicly acknowledge their successes and the value they bring to the team. Feeling appreciated and valued enhances team members’ sense of accomplishment and boosts morale.
Lead by Example: Demonstrate the values and behaviors you expect from your team. This includes your work and leadership style as well as how you prioritize your work/life balance. Be transparent, open to feedback, and willing to adapt your leadership style to support your team’s needs. Leading by example fosters trust and respect within the team.
Encourage Growth and Development: Support the professional growth and development of your team members. Offer opportunities for training, workshops, or attending conferences. Demonstrating a commitment to their growth shows that you invest in their success.
In short, I think that effective team management and maintaining high morale involves understanding and embracing the unique qualities of each team member. When you support team member’s growth, development, and individuality through your attitude, attention, and business structures, you demonstrate your commitment to their success and further enhance your team’s morale and cohesion. The value of this form of leadership, and the teams it tends to create, cannot be understated in our increasingly automated world.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Absolutely. From my past experiences, I’ve seen the benefit of allowing myself to be shaped by a diverse array of resources rather than adhering to rigid doctrine or a single authoritative source. There’s no one right way to do things in the dynamic world of business; every individual and organization is distinct, so what may work for one may not work for another. However, true wisdom can come from exploring a multitude of resources and diverse perspectives and taking nuggets of knowledge from each.
Masterclass courses have been particularly impactful, providing insights from accomplished experts and thought leaders across various industries. Additionally, books, podcasts, and essays have all contributed to my understanding and shaped my approach to leadership and entrepreneurship. By taking niblets from everything I consume, I create a rich tapestry of knowledge and insights that I can draw upon in my professional endeavors. This approach allows me to tailor my management style to my values and preferred way of functioning, adopt effective strategies, and innovate based on the needs of my team and clients.
In addition to my continuous exploration of various resources, one individual stands out to me as an exceptionally impactful mentor: Erich Keil. Erich’s wisdom and experiences have been a wellspring of inspiration, fueling my passion for leadership and entrepreneurship. His guidance has given me the confidence to embrace my unique leadership style and approach challenges with resilience. Under the guidance of Erich, I have gained invaluable insights and lessons that extend far beyond the realm of business. His mentorship has not only enriched my understanding of management but also provided me with a deeper appreciation for life’s complexities and the significance of personal growth.
Whether my learning comes from individuals or resources, I remain more agile and better equipped to navigate the complexities of the business world with confidence and creativity when I value continuous learning, open-mindedness, and adaptability. I highly encourage other business leaders to seek wisdom from multiple sources so that they can continue to learn and grow.
