We recently connected with Brandi Lewis and have shared our conversation below.
Brandi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
I worked at Ann Taylor for a few years and I met some really amazing people that are still my friends today. I was doing my evening shift with Erica. She worked there and I became like a little sister to her. We were talking about my brand and trying to come up with a name. As we talked more I realized that I wanted my brand to be universal and for everyone. “-To think outside the box and achieve your dreams.” So we came up with the name Syeko.? She helped me come up with the spelling and it’s been on ever since.😁😍

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I have always loved fashion. It was embedded in my heart from my mom and dad who loves fashion. I started making tshirts in my dorm room at the Art Institute Of Philadelphia where I graduated in 2005. I had no idea that I was an artist. When I first enrolled in the institute. I knew that I loved fashion so I enrolled for fashion marketing. However AIPH opened up my heart and mind up to another level of design through Art. I took five or six T-shirts back to Baltimore to a few people that I knew. And from there my brand blossomed. I am so thankful to Bmore for supporting me putting Syeko on the map.. Syeko is a fashion forward brand that is inspired by God, Glam and Extreme Art. I build sustainable, wearable art garments to fit each clients style. Embellished with Antique Brooches, Textured Paint , Pearls, Bows and Glam. I want every client experience to be magical. Clients are the soul of the business so I am very appreciative of my Syeko Ladies and Gents.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I have been designing garments for years. Having the faith to keep going when things don’t seem to be progressing. No matter how hard things have gotten, I never gave up. What I had to realize was Gods timing is always perfect. Even though I’ve had days when I wasn’t too sure. To love your passion enough to keep moving forward even when no one may be cheering for you. Learning to trust in myself and my talents. Knowing that I am enough. Being an entrepreneur can be tough but when you know that God has you on earth to live out your purpose it’s all worth it. We all have a dream and a passion that we are blessed with. We are here to use our gifts to make a positive impact on the world and to help others. My mission and purpose is to bring light to the world through art and fashion. I hope to be an inspiration to our next generation.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe that my extreme art designs has built my reputation in the market. Also how I treat my clients and people in general with respect and love. The brand is centered around Love and it shows in my garments and attitude. I have worked hard for years consistently and that has caused me to develop a lot of wonderful client relationships. Each one of my garments tell a story and that touches the hearts of my clients. I am forever grateful for my gift.
