Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brandi Keiser. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Brandi thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s something crazy on unexpected that’s happened to you or your business
I landed my first “big” client in an unexpected, stars-aligning sort of way. After officially launching my coaching practice, I invested in a partnership with a well-known behavioral assessment company. In order to become an official partner, I had to take a multi-week training course in order to be certified in the use of their assessments. Once the virtual training started, we were quickly placed into small groups and were tasked with a project that required ongoing work culminating in a team presentation. Through this group project, I got to know and develop a mutual, professional respect for a woman who understood and appreciated my coaching and consulting experience. As the course came to a close, we agreed to keep in touch to see how we could support one another going forward. A few weeks later, I was on vacation with my family and received an email from her requesting my availability for a conversation about a potential project for the company she worked for. Without knowing who her employer was and still being new at selling my business’s capabilities, I anxiously talked through their needs and how I could be of service to them. Shortly after that call, I received a contract to support Netflix by serving them through executive coaching and management consulting services! Needless to say, landing them early in my entrepreneurial journey was a gift that I am still grateful for today, particularly since they are still one of my clients. Business lesson learned: you never know who you will meet and why you have crossed paths. Invest in relationships with sincerity and a service mindset.
Brandi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a personal and professional growth coach supporting those who are living below their potential and striving to achieve big dreams through leveling up in their career, taking on a side hustle, or launching a passion project. I coach ambitious individuals, talented executives, and driven entrepreneurs who need support as they move through life’s many transitions, ups and downs, and periods of feeling stuck. I offer individual and group coaching services, and am also developing a digital course and writing a book. My dream is to serve people around the world through online content creation and scalable coaching services.
I am most proud of the work I do with high-performing women who are juggling their careers, motherhood, and all that life throws at them while still feeling the fire in their gut to seek fulfillment of their personal goals. For example, I have supported individuals with time management, daily focus, and strategic planning as they boldly launch their own companies. Similarly, I’ve worked with clients to identify what they are passionate about and ways in which they can use their stories to gain clarity and purpose as they rebuild their confidence and motivation to dream big once again after losing themselves in life.
The core values for the brand of Brandi Keiser International are growth, fulfillment, authenticity, and resilience. I aim to demonstrate these values through my service to others, whether that be through my blog pieces and free downloads, individual coaching, my podcast messages, my future online courses, or book. It’s important to me that my clients feel seen at the points in life when they most need visibility, but may not know how to find it.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
If there is one thing that I had to unlearn through life and my entrepreneurial journey is that people don’t expect me to have all of the answers. As a high-performing people-pleaser who has been heavily rewarded throughout her consulting career for being resourceful and delivering solutions to problems, my confidence has come from having answers… or so I thought. Coaching has taught me that people don’t come to work with me because they believe I have all of the answers. In fact, coaching is not about having the answers at all (totally opposite of consulting). I have had to rewire my brain to appreciate the value in holding space for others and nurturing their curiosity, and exploring their own answers and solutions to problems. This was extremely challenging for me when I first launched my business and a source of anxiety throughout my first year as an entrepreneur. However, the more I worked with clients, shared stories and resources online, and developed creative ways to facilitate the journey for others, my confidence grew in myself and in the value of my services.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
A few years ago, I experienced a divorce. While that word was commonplace to me as I am a child of divorce, I never could have predicted the impact of that word as I lived through the process first-hand. My divorce came at a time in my career when I needed to be on top of my game as an executive leader of a growing firm, not to mention as a mother. My mental and physical health were tested in ways I could not have imagined, and my body suffered as a result. It was through this process and reaching a devastating low in life, that I learned how to honor my ambitions, find myself again, and be patient with myself and the process of rebuilding my approach to life, health, and goals. I even learned to dream again with confidence. Launching not one but two businesses was the culmination of this period of change. While it was incredibly difficult to go from feeling so lost to having a strong drive and creative mind, I am evidence that it is possible.
