We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brandi Echols. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brandi below.
Brandi, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The year was 2000, I had just graduated from high school, life ahead was far-fetched, very little to no direction, and at that time I was a very lost soul. Most of my life had been centered around my talent being a professional baton twirler. Thinking this would be the thing to take me extremely far in life turns out to be the dream that died for a time period longer than anticipated. Everything around me seemed to fall apart. My oldest son is born two years after high school. His dad was married, which I learned several months after dating him, and I had no clue I was pregnant throughout all of the madness. My baby boy is the joy of my life. He is the one setting me up to grow into the woman I should become. However, I found myself lost in another dead-end relationship that altered my faith in God, my hope to live, and my desire to continue parenting. These dark years were the beginning of the many failures I would face as a mother, employee, church goer, and woman. I breathed depression and suicide. I hated my life! I was a train wreck. The many troubles I have faced in my lifetime have catapulted me into becoming an Advocate for Suicide Prevention, Community Development, and Ambassador for the Kingdom of God.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
The Lord sent my son and I to Texas to begin a new life (so I thought). We became homeless. My oldest was 15 and I was pregnant with my second baby boy. The craziest of things begin to take place. I was uncertain of what to do. Except, it wasn’t in me to fall apart or give up. Everything was a teachable moment into becoming a survivor. Once survival mode kicked in, I had no choice but to keep pressing in. All while sleeping in my car no tears were ever shed. Who has time to cry when you have a baby on the way and a son needing to go to school each day? Resilience was something I was born with. My youngest son’s grandmother pointed that out to me. She couldn’t understand how I could keep going despite my circumstances. There was never a time that I expressed to her about our struggles. I had never heard anyone tell me of my resilience. It was then that I realized my life was centered around the goal of never giving up.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building a social media presence isn’t easy at all. I can recall in the earlier stages of sharing ministry and business with people on social media how no one took me seriously. Therefore, I believed the timing was off. Once I prayed about the timing, I then realized it was necessary for me to groom my businesses into what they should be on paper before relaunching online. For this reason, I saw a better reaction once returning to social media with stronger expectation and presence that could captivate audiences. In January 2020 the goal was to focus solely on one thing at a time. I began teaching on Free Conference Calls then on Facebook Lives each week. From there, I noticed the audiences begin to grow because of consistency, content, and marketing. Afterwards, I started to expand to Instagram followed by YouTube. Expanding outside of the box is necessary. Even starting from scratch in these areas is a process. The more consistent we are the more we see growth. Especially, when the content is marketable. We are living in a time when everything has to be presentation worthy. This is an ongoing process as marketing, branding, and creating content is necessary for audiences to become familiar with anyone establishing a stronger brand.
