We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brandi Brooks. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brandi below.
Brandi, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
During my first creative internship, I recall having no technical visual background or training. I didn’t have the connections within the field or the networking capacity that most in the company did. Yet, I outperformed a great number of coworkers who had been in the field for years, even the CEO. My work spoke for itself and I took my spare time to learn the technical details. I don’t know if it was because I am a woman or if it was because I’m a person of color, but it seemed as if everyone tried to discredit my impressive results. At that moment I knew I had a natural talent. A creative lens that wasn’t taught . This moment gave me the confidence I needed to venture out on my own . To be a trailblazer in my own way. To run or walk down my creative path as I saw fit.

Brandi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi my name is Brandi . I am a multimedia storyteller and I run a business that helps young and new creatives build their business portfolio so that they can comfortably transition their businesses into capital-rich spaces and gain the confidence to stay there . Through my umbrella company PT Supreme and Customs , I offer business consultation services such as marketing , branding, and business equity partnerships. Our services and partnerships speak for themselves through our success partners and “supreme alumni”. Everyone leaves with educational enrichment and value that they can take back to their workspaces and their communities .
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
NFTs are interesting to say the least. My introduction to NFTs was in 2018 through a friend who was working in the tech field. At the time they weren’t exactly as complicated as they are now. It was more about the science and exclusivity of them then. Overall I believe NFTs can be a tool that can propel an artist’s craft and artwork to audiences that it wouldn’t have reached otherwise. The NFT arena has made some people a ton of money and has also left some people in the dark. That’s were as a society we have room for improvement . It’s time to make these blockchain and finance-esque spaces more equitable. But for that to happen we kind of have to step out of our quid pro quo/nepotism normality as a culture . Which will take time.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
A simple as it sounds, but let kids be kids. Let them have the ability to choose and to be just how they desire to be . Whether that be influenced or not . People need autonomy from an early age. Don’t get me wrong autonomy doesn’t mean structure-less. It means giving people the freedom to express themselves without restraint . Understanding this also means addressing the wage gap between working artists and those who are making a name for themselves . We should all advocate for those who are coloring and shaping our humanity into history and experiences. A piece of art can change the perspective of a nation. So starting there support them young and advocate for them while they are growing . The starving and disruptive stages of artistry usually breaks more people than it boosts. If that means cutting the football team instead of the arts programs at schools , do that .
