We recently connected with Brandi “BeeOriginal” Roberts and have shared our conversation below.
Brandi “BeeOriginal”, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Humor for me was always an innate gift I clung to as a youth. I knew that laughter gave me power and allowed me to be seen. Humor became a coping mechanism for me early on to deal with the perils of life. I did not formally try to adapt into the actual craft until well into my young adult years.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Brandi is a native of North Carolina. She found her funny bone at a young age and used humor to escape the adversity of life she endured in her youth.
Fast forward now well into 6 years pursuing a comedy career she has graced stages with some of the funniest comedians today such as Ali Siddiq, The Plastic Cup Boyz, Jenny Zigrino, and many more.
She has an uncanny style that is raw, authentic, and persuasive in nature and forces the audience to think from her perspective.
This fall Brandi will be featured on the “Black Power Rangers” comedy tour starting in late October of this year. Along with headliner – Wills Maxwell Jr. (NC) and some other rising comedic acts.
Brandi plans to record her 1st comedy album in 2023.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I think it is the opportunity to connect with people from different areas of life and having a moment where we realize we all have something in common, if we take the time to listen and relate. Laughter is the best icebreaker!
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
One of the best books i’ve ever read was the Motivation Manifesto by Brendan Burchard.
The book is very digestible. It breaks down the core principles of fear and motivation and how it effects us in our pursuit to freedom in life.
It also, gives us 9 principles to integrate into our lives to improve it and help us to reclaim our personal power on our life journey.
