Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Branden Adams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Branden, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, let’s jump into one of the most exciting parts of starting a new venture – how did you get your first client who was not a friend or family?
In high school as a member of the yearbook staff I was also the designated photographer. For several years I would cover school events, classroom activities, anything we could justify making a spread for. Going into my senior year I started taking pictures of my classmates and really started honing my eye for portraits. With all of us graduating it was easy to make a few dollars taking pictures of my peers, especially when the senior portrait photographers our school used were so expensive. It felt great to be in ownership of my value – meaning I wasn’t working for someone else to generate value for their company or business,
I was doing it for myself.
That feeling sparked something in me I’ve never been able to put out and I feel so grateful that the core of my craft is still attached to the innocence & wonder of those beginning moments.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As long as I can remember I’ve had an instinctual desire to admire the beauty the world has to offer, then one day I found out I could capture it. Some might call me a photographer, but I think of myself as a collector of memories; someone able to freeze moments in time. I picked up my first DSLR in high school as a member of the yearbook staff, and soon became the designated photographer. I loved going to school events and student functions, capturing the experience, emotion, and freezing those moments in time – forever. Soon talent turned into ambition and I started participating in a local program that taught young photographers the tricks of the trade. Through this program I was offered my first job as a photographer and a talent became a passion.
I believe everything in this world has beauty and it is a photographers only duty to capture it. With this in mind I look forward to capturing your precious moments for you. Every milestone, every memory, anything that means something to you. From your birthday to your brand launch and everything in between. These things are invaluable and only a photographer who knows how sacred they are can capture them.
I am that photographer.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Word of mouth, people sharing my work is my best source of new clients. I like to do give work and give people images & memories they will never forget, when you make somebody feel like that they want to share their experience.
That’s why my approach to business is always centered on the customers experience and satisfaction.
People love the images they get from me, but the way they feel & the confidence they gain is the real reason they keep coming back.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I take care of my clients & am constantly offering incentives and specials to reward loyalty. The people who support me and my business mean the world to me so I make it a point to show as much gratitude as I possibly can, being able to make your customers feel appreciated goes a long way.
