We were lucky to catch up with Brandan Wallace recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brandan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Back in January of 2020 I was offered a job at a high end dealership as a Tech. Shortly after I accepted the offer, i was laid off due to the arrival of Covid 19. Throughout 7 months of quarantine, I had been thinking to myself, “ I’m tired of working for other people, and I don’t like handouts. I need to find a way to start a legit business.” I’ve always been involved with music and fashion, and I thought it would be a great opportunity to collaborate the two. I wanted to make brands that portray a image of my personality, and the like minds of the world. I wanted people to gain self confidence by wearing my brands PEME (Please Excuse My Ego & Ownly 1N Charge, and also to change the narrative on having a ego. With manifestation, and persistence Grade A Attire was born.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I from the Northside of Milwaukee Wi. I was raised by a single mother as the only child. My original love was football, music, and boxing. It wasn’t until high school when I developed a passion for clothing designing. I started with shoe customization. I would use shoe paint to design my sneakers. The luxury of designing material wasn’t available to me until later in my adulthood, but when the opportunity presented itself I pursued it with no hesitation. I was inspired as a kid by Daymond John with FUBU. I couldn’t help but remember how fly it was to just wear 4 letters that meant something. I wanted a brand like that. Fly, but made a huge statement. My whole purpose in building my brands was to build self confidence and make people feel good by expressing their thoughts in full without saying a word. Putting a positive outlook of having an ego, and being the only boss of what you do. Wearing Grade A Attire you develop self love, because you love how you feel, once you see how you look. We offer discounts throughout the year and show gratitude to all of our customers. We provide multiple fabrics to choose from with some of the best designs on the market. I’m proud of the growth of my company. In just three years the amount of success it’s generating is truly phenomenal. I’m looking forward to what the near future holds for Grade A Attire.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I have to say Dame Dash really opened up my mindset when it came to being a boss. I subscribed to his Content Network where he would mention in multiple interviews the importance of being fearless and taking control of your creativity. I’d have to say Billy Carson as well and his writing on the Emerald Tablets which go in depth about spirituality and manifestation. That’s been a major component to my success. First I had a vision of what I wanted then I made it a reality. You have to to believe one hundred percent with zero doubts. What starts as a mental thought will eventually transition into success. Have belief and be consistent. Those two gentlemen had a significant impact on my way of thinking leading into the world of entrepreneurship.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
We’ll I started by creating accounts to all popular social media sites, then I created the content to market publicly. I knew my product wasn’t the only of its kind being marketed, so I had to be creative with my promotion. I started by making my own flyers, commercials, etc, and began paying for promo campaigns within social sites. In the midst of doing this I followed tons of people who were interested or associated in my line of business. My mother taught me young to always surround yourself around others who share the same interests as you. My advice to anyone who’s building their social presence would be to not just use my method, but also create ways of your own to stand out and be different. Stay consistent, post, post, post! Lastly Interact with your audience.
