We recently connected with Brandace B and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Brandace thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
Yoga and the ongoing practice of Yoga has been the pivotal moment in my Yogi journey. Prior to engaging in Yoga I was sad, misguided, uncertain and overcome with grief (My Mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, With 1-year life expectancy). I stumbled on Yoga, I was at the beach (Long Beach) engaging in another activity on the lower level; when leaving the upper level was saturated with a minimum of 150 Yogis practicing Yoga. I was immediately intimidated yet, intrigued. Intimidated mainly, I assumed I lacked the skill and talent and more importantly, personally I felt I didn’t resemble your typical “Yogi”. Unaware, every inhale and exhale, I am practicing Yoga.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I was fortunate/blessed to be accepted into 200 Hour (YTT), several years ago; facilitated by the highly respected Dharma Shakti (Founder of Yoga on the Bluff). Prior to studying Yoga, I formally practiced approx. 8 times. Upon first practicing I knew Yoga was the missing piece to my puzzle. I wanted more, I needed more and I manifested more. I studied and trained with intention. Being a creative being Yoga would provide the flexibility and creative freedom to heal, repair and restore the body and spirit. I am determined to add diversity to Yoga being a direct reflection of culture, creativity and health. Yoga is my calling, passion and life purpose. My greatest desire is to practice and share my gift with the world. My practice is outlined as Yin Yoga, a slower paced guided Yoga with a concentration on muscle building and restoration. Properly, using the Breath/Prana/Life Force to heal and restore. My clients demographic range from 8 y/o to 96 y/o. Often the biggest misconception is I am not flexible enough to practice Yoga, I always have the same response: “if you can breath you can practice Yoga with consistency, patience and time your practice will improve tremendously. ” I am the proud owner of Bee Charmed LLC, offering Yoga (private, group & intimate practice available; ideal for birthdays, wedding parties, etc. ) Also, including a homemade topical serum (infused with THC and Organic Olive Oil) commonly used to reduce dis-ease, discomfort and pain in joints and muscle). I myself suffered a direct trauma to both knees, I had limited mobility and pain was ongoing and constant. Often practicing Yoga I was able to use various Poses, Prana and time to heal and restore both knees, I am a living testiment and proof the benefits of Yoga is astronomical with unlimited rewards.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I mindfully had to unlearn that my journey cannot and will not be compared to the journey of others; commonly those whom have never embarked on similar interest. It is not uncommon for some to attempt to imprint their insecurities on you. The most favorable lesson was reconnecting to the person, I once was prior to the programming and training primary during formative years. Realigning with my former wants and desires prior to influence of others. I was always a nurturer and connected to nature and earth. I was often discouraged and encouraged to follow a path that did not belong to me and my life mission.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Freely allowing myself to be lead lacking resistance. Providing grace whilst providing a safe space. Professionalism is primary, I am honored and grateful to be able to practice, train and heal others daily. Never do anything for monetary gain, rather impacting and restoring the lives of others and your reward will be currency amongst others. Properly, expressing how to practice Yoga to reduce injury. Always reinventing my practice, integrating small weights, elastic bands and body weight to increase muscle mass and strength.
