We recently connected with Braeden Counts and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Braeden thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
Legacy is a big deal in my life. I’ve always thought we as humans were put on earth to do more than collect paychecks. To do more than build the dreams of someone else. I think the idea of a family legacy has been lost in translation over the last few decades. More people are okay with settling. I want to leave behind something. I want my family name to mean something. To leave the world and everyone I meet better than I found them. I think another part that goes into that is authenticity. That’s what I strive to be is unapologetically myself. I might not say all the right things or do everything correct, but I’ll say and do it my way. Not that I’m not willing to learn or change, but there’s a difference between growth and settling.
Braeden, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a singer/songwriter and entrepreneur, and for my day job I work in bookkeeping and accounting. I got started as a singer songwriter in 2015. Picked up my guitar, taught myself how to play and took it from there. I’ve written over 150+ and I have had two of those cut and recorded by other artists. One is still being played on Texas radio and is currently in the top 50 on the independent charts. That song is called American Dream by Houston Bernard. I wrote it with Jason Hamor back in 2019 and it was released May 15th of 2020. Outside of my music career my wife and I are entrepreneurs with an online based business dealing with every day commodities and goods. We understand that in todays society if you aren’t a go getter, if you aren’t ambitious and willing to hustle/grind early, you’ll probably spend your entire life working for someone else and watching your dreams slowly fade away.
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I think NFT’s have already been popular. Same with Crypto. If you look at the gaming industry, you see it and have seen it for the last 5ish years. Kids spend hundreds of dollars INSIDE the game on a virtual currency to purchase unlockables and other things you cannot get without the virtual currency. I think it’s making its way into society and it’s going to make a lot of people a lot of money.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
This is a loaded question. There’s so much I have in mind. Obviously I want to take care of my family and create a family legacy that will live on for generations. I think outside of that I want to be able to give back to the community that made me. Not just the town, but the community of people I have met along the way. I want to be able to find music programs in the area i grew up, but I also want to become a mentor and guide others in life to help them find their way in their journey and create a legacy for themselves and their families.
