We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brady DeWitt. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brady below.
Brady, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
One of the biggest problems I see in the online guitar education space is people are fantastic at putting together loads on content and leaving those bits of information out in space to not be applied. I find that students never have a system or an understanding of how they get to where they want to go.
My course was founded on the understanding the systems any guitar player would need in order to be successful, while giving them clear and easy-to-digest video content. Music Theory and learning to play an instrument is the same as learning a second language and just like learning Spanish or German, you have to continuously use those words and terms in order for them to stick and be able to apply them correctly.
I have made a difference by creating a course that allows students to learn what style or genre of music they enjoy, have the ability to find all the necessary information available if they are not familiar with a technique or term, a private Zoom group coaching call, where students can ask questions and we go over terms and techniques, and I will place you in a small group with other guitar players to be your “accountability” team, so you will achieve your goals.

Brady, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi! I’m Brady! I am a guitar player who realized that most guitar players just need a straight path system in order for them to get from point A to point B. I think music theory should be super easy to learn and they should spend most of their time on their instrument, practicing and applying what they have been learning.
I have been playing for over 16 years, graduated from College with a Bachelors in Music, have been teaching for the past 6 years and have heard all the common problems from guitar time and time again. I found that if guitar players had the right systems, a competent teacher, and a support system, they can achieve anything.
I am most proud of being able to help students achieve their goals and become better. I find the most rewarding aspect is when guitar players come to me with their problems, solutions are easily brought fourth and they come back within a month and their problem has been solved and they say “Wow, it’s really that easy!”
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn the lesson of I can do it all by myself and I have time to do it all.
I had to learn the great lesson of I need a team of people around me to be successful, I need to consistently be consuming books to learn more things from others who are ahead of me, I had to learn to not be the smartest person in the room because I always have something to learn from others and how they were able to achieve their goals.
The backstory comes from when I was starting to formulate the idea for my course and a simple understanding of if I wanted to do it all myself then everything will move that much slower. I cannot explain how many time I would stay up late editing a video, creating a piece of content for social media, creating list, etc. in order to get done what I needed to do tomorrow which would affect every other aspect of my life. I learned during that time, I needed to find way to work smarter, not harder.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I would highly recommend Richard Coopers Course on Entrepreneurship, any books by Alex Hormozi, Cole Gordan or Jordan Belfort.
Read and fully understand how their approach to business and you have will have a great foundation for business, scaling, sales and content creation.
