Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bradley Looney. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Bradley , thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
My vision of success has changed a lot over the past few years, and I believe it will continue to evolve as I grow as a creative. While my idea of success has shifted, certain core beliefs and values remain constant. To me, success isn’t defined by a title or the amount of money you have. It’s about finding happiness and joy in what you do.
I believe it’s essential to challenge yourself and step outside your comfort zone to grow creatively. However, at the end of the day, success isn’t about living a luxurious, fast-paced life filled with wealth and a packed schedule. It’s about enjoying your work and surrounding yourself with supportive, uplifting, and loving people.
To truly be successful, I think it’s crucial to stay authentic and not compromise who you are to fit in. Being yourself, finding joy in your work, and protecting your peace are, in my view, the true markers of success.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello! My name is Bradley Looney, and I’m a graphic designer currently studying at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). When I first started at SCAD, I was a painting major. I’ve always had a deep love for traditional, classical fine art. Growing up, I was constantly drawing and felt ready to become the next Picasso when I arrived at SCAD. However, as I progressed through my courses, I quickly realized I wasn’t feeling challenged. While I enjoyed the fine art classroom, it felt like every material and technique had already been explored.
Out of curiosity, I decided to take an introductory graphic design class. That decision opened up a whole new world for me—one I had never experienced before. It was also the first time a professor ever told me that my work was bad. I remember feeling completely defeated, but at the same time, it ignited a fire within me. In that moment, I told myself, “Well, now I have to get good at this.”
From then on, I poured everything I had into every project, pulling multiple all-nighters, exploring every tool, and soaking up as much graphic design knowledge as possible. It was the first time I truly felt like I was working on my art, and I was immensely proud of what I created. By the end of that class, the same professor who criticized my work pulled me aside to tell me how much I’d grown as a designer in such a short time.
Graphic design has since become a passion of mine. If I’m not designing, I’m thinking about design. I’ve quickly developed my own style, which centers around bright, colorful graphics with fun, overlapping shapes that grab your attention and spark joy. I truly believe it’s impossible to feel sad when looking at a playful, funky design!
Lately, I’ve been focusing on branding and social media post design, and I find it incredibly satisfying to create cohesive brands with eye-catching visuals. I’ve also been experimenting with website and product design, constantly pushing myself to grow and explore new creative avenues.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding part of being a creative is seeing all the hard work I’ve put into a design get recognized, shared, and spread by others. I feel a deep sense of pride when people are drawn to my graphics, ask questions, and share them with those around them
How did you build your audience on social media?
Building an audience is something I’m still working on, but I’ve found a few things that have been really helpful in my creative journey so far. The first is reaching out and connecting with others. Engaging with people on social media—getting to know them, sharing ideas, and asking questions—is a great way to learn and make valuable connections. Another key is consistency. The more active and engaged you are, the more people will recognize your work and want to connect with you. Lastly, don’t be afraid to put yourself out there! Seek opportunities to create, get your name out, and build authentic, lasting relationships
