We recently connected with Brad Moore and have shared our conversation below.
Brad , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I spent almost 14 years in the Army as an Interrogator and Counterintelligence Special Agent. During that time, I was able to serve our country in Afghanistan. attached to a Special Forces unit. After retiring from the Army, my wife and I found ourselves in a position where we needed to hire a private investigator for assistance in a matter. The private investigator didn’t do the best job and it left me thinking that I could start my own private investigative agency.
It clicked for me that I already had many of the skills required to be a private investigator from my time in the Army. I wanted to help people and more specifically, give veterans another avenue to use the skills they learned while in the service once they got out. One of the main issues for veterans is finding a purpose once they are no longer in the military. Being a private investigator allows them to continue to help and serve people in an impactful way.

Brad , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a former interrogator and counterintelligence special agent, I have had experiences in interviewing and interrogating terrorist in Afghanistan to performing investigations on individuals attempting to deceive the United States. This experience gave me the skillset to be able to talk to anyone from any background, to include terrorists who want to kill me. It was important to put those feelings of hatred aside and focus on getting the information from that individual needed to save other soldiers.
I am most proud to provide an outlet for veterans to continue serving. Suicide among veterans is extremely high. Many of us have heard the statistic of 22 veterans a day commit suicide and I wanted to do something that could bring that number down. One of the leading contributors of veterans getting to that point is they feel they no longer have a purpose. If I can provide them cases and investigations they can perform as a private investigator, that gives them that purpose they may be searching for.
Many people see the campaigns that are on social media about doing 22 pushups a day or other ideas about curbing the suicide rate among veterans. When you hire Legion Investigative Group, you are directly assisting and providing that purpose to veterans.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
One of the tasks we perform as a Private Investigation Agency is to act as a process server throughout Georgia. A process server delivers court documents to individuals, businesses, or their representatives involved in a legal action. The paperwork can range from someone being sued due to a car wreck to having divorce papers served. In some cases, individuals try to avoid being served this paperwork because they are under the impression that if the can avoid the legal hassle if they never receive the paperwork. However, this just only delays the process and costs that person more money down the road.
Some of the most rewarding documents I serve are protection orders and in some cases divorce paperwork from an abusive partner. I was contacted by a young lady who had been trying to get divorced from an abusive partner for five years; however, she could never proceed with the divorce because the partner kept avoiding getting served. I attempted to serve the partner but he continued to lie about his whereabouts. Through research, I found that the company he works for was participating in a trade show in Atlanta. The client provided pictures of what he looked like and as a result, I found him at the trade show. I was able to discreetly serve him the divorce papers. One of the best phone calls I’ve ever made was to that young lady to let her know that she could finally move forward with legally divorcing her abuser.
As a result of her online review of Legion Investigative Group, other women have contacted and hired us to serve protection orders against their abusers. This has become some of the most rewarding work we now do. No one should ever have to live in fear for their safety. If we can help in anyway provide comfort to the abused, our job is accomplished. This work has allowed us to gain a fantastic reputation for getting the job done at any cost.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for us are law firms. We have found that once we do a terrific job for one law firm, whether it be through private investigative work or via process serving, they recommend us to their friends at other law firms. This has allowed our income to double in our second year of operating. The traits we focus on that allow us to excel are communication, hard work, and honesty. If you can provide those things to a law firm or company, they are going to continue coming back for your business.
