We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brad Daniels. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brad below.
Brad, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
When we started Exuvium Records, it was fueled by the excitement of sharing music we loved with the world and creating a home for cinematic electronic music. I did not foresee the vast amount of legal and accounting work that my future held, and these less-than-exciting parts of the business turned into a massive time sink. Hours of research, figuring out contracts, trying and failing to automate royalty payments – it wasn’t the way I had hoped to spend my time running a record label. I felt like I was in over my head – I knew music and promotion, not law and finance.
Luckily, I had made some friends over my years producing electronic music and was able to pick their brains about the business side of things. Two friends, Kamilla and Collin, were especially helpful during this time. Through a lot of patience and months of iteration, we landed on an accounting method that works for us and a contract that ensures the label and artists are protected, paid, and treated fairly.

Brad, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We are a cinematic bass record label. What is cinematic bass? It’s a genre of music that merges larger-than-life trailer music (think of the latest action movie trailer you saw) with electronic music. My friend Eric and I started the label after noticing a growing gap in the electronic music scene. Despite how niche cinematic bass was, we knew a ton of producers making this exciting style of music. The problem was that there weren’t any record labels releasing it. So, we created Exuvium – the new home of cinematic bass music.
I’m most proud of the extremely high quality level we maintain. Every single release is hand selected by me and my partner Eric (Celestial Void). Between us, we have nearly twenty years of experience making cinematic bass music, so you could say we’re quite picky. Yet, we continue to receive incredible demos from incredible artists week after week.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Create laws limiting AI as soon as possible. We’ve already seen AI destroy the careers of visual artists, let’s not make musicians next.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Our existence is an act of defiance against the status quo. Our mission is to shine a light on emotionally-impactful music and push our artists to the next level in both their production skill and storytelling prowess.
