We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful BR1AN. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with BR1AN below.
Alright, BR1AN thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I mostly learned by teaching myself, spending years experimenting, and just creating without really thinking too much about it. From around 2019 to 2023, I was in this constant flow where ideas just poured out of me. I’d make 30 or 40 songs a year, and it felt effortless, like the music was leading me instead of the other way around.
But lately, things have shifted. I’ve been struggling to find that same rhythm and sense of satisfaction I used to have. I think perfectionism has really started to get in the way. I keep chasing this “perfect” sound or feeling, and it’s made it harder to actually enjoy the process. On top of that, balancing my time between producing and my responsibilities in business has been difficult. There are days where I just wish I had more time to sit down, get lost in the music, and not think about anything else.
If I could go back, I’d tell myself to focus less on perfecting every detail and more on finishing ideas, because growth comes from completion, not control. The most important skills I’ve learned aren’t just technical ones like sound design or mixing; it’s been learning patience, self-awareness, and how to trust my instincts again.
Right now, I’m trying to find my way back to that feeling, to the part of me that used to create just for the sake of expression. It’s not easy, but I think that struggle is part of what makes the music honest.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Bryan Martinez, but I’ve gone by BR1AN for about 11 years now. I’m 23, and I started producing when I was just 11 years old. Since then, I’ve released six independent studio albums, collaborated with friends and artists I admire, and kept pushing deeper into the electronic and experimental world.
Right now, I’m searching for a new sound, something that feels honest to who I’ve become. What sets me apart is that everything I make comes from a real place; I’m not chasing trends, just trying to turn emotion into sound.
I’m proud of staying independent and true to myself all these years. For me, BR1AN isn’t just music, it’s a reflection of what the mind sees and what the heart feels.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is simple: create music that connects, challenges, and makes people feel.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Creating something from nothing is incredible. The ultimate reward will be when people listen and connect with my music.
