Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bouquet Kramek. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bouquet, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, let’s imagine that you were advising someone who wanted to start something similar to you and they asked you what you would do differently in the startup-process knowing what you know now. How would you respond?
If I could start over, I would never stop working on improving my crafts. When I moved from Thailand to the U.S., I stopped doing photography since I did not believe in my potential. I did not think I was good enough and no one would ever want to pay me for my work.
Even though I was planning to be in the U.S. for only a short amount of time, I should have taken advantage of being here to work with those like-minded creatives and learn from them. I would get here a lot faster or more skilled than I am now.
Bouquet, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello everyone! My name is Bouquet Kramek, a published photographer and founder of Bouquet Photography. I was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand.
Back in Thailand, while I studied Television & Digital Media in college, I started working as a photographer for a dance team which led to more opportunities as a freelance photographer. Later on, I got into modeling and learned to guide and coach my subjects to capture even better photos.
I came to the U.S. as an exchange student to see more of the world, and practice speaking English. Soon after, I moved to Hawaii it is where I fell in love with my amazing husband. He is the one who saw my potential and encouraged me to pursue my art. After lots of hard work, I was able to pursue photography full-time.
I do all kinds of photography, but I specialized in portraits such as model portfolio, branding, family, maternity, couple, and wedding. I also offer one-on-one consultation whether it is outfit coordination, color palette, ETC. to be able to deliver the album efficiently.
What sets me apart from others is my crafts. I do not define my style into one category only. I am an artist and each session has a uniqueness of its own. I edit each session according to the subjective selection as each session is my thumbprint of photographs. Having a keen eye for detail to ensure all elements of a photo are perfectly blended to convey the appropriate vision and/or message is my strong suit, as well as having a great attitude is something I am proud of. I am here not just to capture the moment, but to capture a vibe, so I always bring my best to the session.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Before this, I was happy if I got good photos from each session, but since I have been doing more family and wedding sessions, I have learned the fulfillment of documenting their presences and knowing that their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will have a chance of looking back at the photos I took and learn a piece of their family history.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
As I mentioned before, I was a freelancer when I was in collage back in Thailand. When I moved to the U.S. I did not think being a photographer was an option.
My husband plays a big part of who I am now both in business and in life. He encouraged me to take a leap of faith and to start a photography business. I slowly starting photography again along with working at two restaurants.
Once the pandemic hit, I lost my restaurant job and we relocated to Florida. The transition definitely gave me some time to get my business all together and going full-time as a photographer. It was a lot of self-improvment, changing my perspective, and learning how to do business. I am going on my 2nd year in Florida, but I am proud of who I have become and where I am at the moment. Again, I would not be able to do all this without a husband who believes in me.
