We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Boston FoodDudes. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Boston FoodDudes below.
Hi Boston FoodDudes, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Joining an already crowded field of Social Media Food Influencers was a bit scary at first. Many other influencers had years of experience and major followings.
We wanted to do something different to help us stand out, and in doing so we took a risk of betting on ourselves and doing something very out of the norm on Foodie Instagram.
Our strategy was creating fun and engaging content that sometimes includes character and storylines to help promote restaurants. We felt like this helped us stand out and created memorable content for our restaurant partners. While it felt like a risk in a field filled with pictures and reel, our content strategy set us apart and helped us to stand out!
Boston FoodDudes, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we realized that restaurants were going through a tough time. Some of our most beloved local restaurants were shutting down, and it broke our heart. We really wanted to do our part to help.
The three of us have always have had a passion for film-making and a passion for food, and we decided to create an Instagram food account to showcase some of our favorite restaurants in the Boston area.
We use short videos, reels, and pictures to help restaurants engage with customers on a higher level. Our bread and butter is our video content. Our videos are typically funny, witty, and sometimes even storyline-based. These fun videos help our restaurant partners stand out and also help us to stand out in a crowded market of food influencers.
What started out as an idea amongst friends has now turned into an Instagram account with over 10K followers and a number of restaurant partnerships.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Our goal is to create social media content that highlights food and drives traffic to our restaurant partners all around New England. There is no better feeling than when we hear that people visit restaurants because of our content.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
A major factor in our Instagram growth has been running giveaways. In addition to our growth through our creative video content, we’ve seen major growth through giveaways. A recent giveaway with the amazing Southie Cookie led to us earning 100+ followers in one single day.
We advise those just starting in social media to be patient! There are periods of time where you might be in a rut and are seeing little to no growth in your following, but always keep going! Content is key, and great content will always lead to great growth whether it comes quickly or slowly..
