We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Boss Babe Awards a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Boss Babe , appreciate you joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Great Question, Our platform is catered to women and lgbtq+ & I wanted to make sure the name was something unisex but cute and catchy. Being a Boss in your own lane these days is major!! You can literally do anything you put your mind too. Being a Babe to me is about being a good person. When you think babe/bae you smile because that person makes you feel good. So I came up with Boss Babe.. A person making an impact while making an income & now the Boss Babe Awards has grown to be an iconic platform.
Boss Babe , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I realized there weren’t many platforms that praised entrepreneurs. There was no safe space that was curated specifically for women & lgbtq. Moving to Atlanta I seen how much black excellence Atlanta had to offer but also how segregated everything was. So I started to see if this was actually a need for entrepreneurs. As an entrepreneur myself there’s often times you can feel behind, like your purpose may not be what your actual doing but most of the time it is and we all need a support system, a village, pats on the shoulder and to hear the words I’m proud of you. Crazy thing is strangers will be your biggest supporters but we’re so stuck on our families and friends support. I wanted to fill the gap I felt entrepreneurs were missing. After setting up my business plan, registering the LLC, we started the process of getting the categories & Anonymous committee of 30 together. The first one was to be debuted in September 2020 but due to Covid 19, we decided to debut it on April 24th, 2022. With the second annual Boss Babe Awards approaching April 30th, 2023, We are truly grateful for the overwhelming amount of support and positive feedback we’ve received back from last year. We’re proud to announce that the 2nd annual Boss Babe awards has official sponsors @iam.will.iam3 @itsherwine @bomadevodka @beyondexpectationsllc @essencerestaurantandlounge @revanchecognac @sullygoodeats_inc @cgbevents @cooked_up_creationz @mstcuisines @hotgirlgraphics @eventfullyyours_byshunb @sensibakery_ @theclassiccoutureexperience @c&cmoviefilmstudio .
We look forward to topping last years experience as well as celebrating and honoring Atlanta’s Elite, Entrepreneurs & Celebrity Honorees.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
We started off with ZERO followers & since no one knew who this business belonged too or where the official awards show was going to be hosted there was quite a buzz rather quickly.. There was this exclusive platform inviting some of the best in their categories to be apart of this invite only like awards ceremony. The address wasn’t released until 24hrs prior & it was to the aboard a shuttle that took you to the awards. Within the first 4 months we gained 500 followers. Once the first annual Boss Babe Awards happened the bar was set for the 2nd annual to come April 2023. In less the 1yr we gained over 1.1k followers and hoping to grow even more this year. 10k here we come!!
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Honestly the first annual Boss Babe Awards. It really set the tone for how we’re coming and the caliber of what we expect in return. This is literally the Grammys for Entrepreneurs. This is currently a Atlanta local thing but will soon be a GLOBAL matter.
