We were lucky to catch up with Bonny Parihar recently and have shared our conversation below.
Bonny, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
Honestly, I learnt by practice. I didn’t have a background in the beauty industry, so I started with YouTube tutorials and online forums. At first, everything was slow and clunky, but every mistake taught me something. I’m proud to say that I’m a self taught artist.
If I could do it over, I’d have started building sooner. I spent too long overthinking and trying to be ‘ready.’ Turns out, nothing accelerates learning until you start doing it—even if it’s rough. I had this idea of becoming a makeup artist and starting my channel in my late 20’s; however; I started to work on it in my late 30’s. Better late than never, right?
For an artistic profession like mine, it’s clear that creativity and perfection is the most important skill; however; along with that patience and focus is equally important because nothing happens overnight. Self motivation, patience and focus will take you a long way.
Everyday I learn something new and because makeup & skincare is my passion, I never get bored of it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a simple south asian girl, born and brought up in Coimbatore (a city in Tamil Nadu, South of India) I’m a graduate in commerce and have never worked in a field even closely related to my degree..lol. I’m married to the most gentle guy on the face of earth, Lal Parihar and blessed with his replica as my son, Ansh Parihar. Adopted the naughtiest golden retriever, Ollie Parihar. And that makes my family so perfect! I’m a home body and love to spend time with my family.
I got into the channel of makeup and skincare because of my passion. My son was my motivator to start it and my husband has been my strength to continue with it. As a self learnt makeup artist, I was always skeptical to do makeup on clients, but my friends have been super supportive and without their push, I wouldn’t have ever started doing makeup on clients.
Honesty is my virtue and that is what sets me apart from everyone. I don’t accept clients or brand deals just for money, I accept them only when I’m able to understand their needs and I’m confident I’ll be able to do justice.
You can see my YouTube channel or any of my social media accounts that I have very few followers, and I am proud of that small group of followers because they are genuine. I get requests everyday to boost my channel/ increase followers for a price, but I’ve never done that and will not do it in future, because I work really hard and believe in myself that my work will be recognized on a larger platform and one day I will be able to do this full time.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to work with bigger brands and continue working on my Social Media platform fulltime.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I learnt not to overthink everything and go with the flow/ gut feeling. There have been opportunities I missed because I did not made a quicker decision and now they are huge brands and have a great presence in social media.
