We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bonnie Williams. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bonnie below.
Alright, Bonnie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I’ve always known I would become a nail tech—it wasn’t even a question for me. The moment that solidified it was when I was around 11 or 12 years old. I remember flipping through an old magazine and seeing these incredible 3D nail designs—dice, playing cards, curved nails, money encapsulated in acrylic. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. The creativity, the boldness—I was mesmerized. That was the moment I knew I had found my calling.
Right after seeing that magazine, I decided to try nail art myself. I found a dollar bill in my mom’s room, cut it up (which she wasn’t too happy about later), and used it to create a French tip design on her toenails. From there, I started experimenting with whatever I had—using a single bottle of polish and a toothpick to create tiny designs on my friends’ nails. Even with limited tools, I was hooked. This was what I was meant to do.
As I grew older, I refined my skills and eventually started working in high end nail salons. While I loved the work, I found that my passion for intricate, artistic designs wasn’t always fully utilized. Many clients wanted simple, classic looks, but I craved the freedom to create bold, expressive nail art—the kind that had first inspired me. That’s when I knew I had to step out and build something of my own.
My business started under the name B Bello Nailz, but as I evolved, so did my vision. I transitioned into creating custom press-on nails, which gave me the artistic freedom I was missing in the salon. Press-ons allow me to design highly detailed, reusable nail sets that reflect people’s personalities and self-expression. Whether someone wants an extravagant, over-the-top design or a sleek, minimalistic look, I make it possible.
Beyond the art itself, my business is about accessibility, confidence, and joy. Not everyone can get their nails done in a salon regularly, and I wanted to offer an affordable, high-quality alternative that still feels luxurious. Nails, like hair and fashion, are a form of self-expression, and I love helping people bring their dream nail designs to life. My goal is to create happiness—on their hands, at their fingertips, and in their confidence.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
For years, I focused primarily on selling my custom press-on nails at market events. While it was rewarding, I started to notice the ups and downs of relying on a single product at these events. Some days were great, but others were slow, and I realized that to grow and sustain my business, I needed to diversify my creative offerings.
That’s when I discovered my love for handmade jewelry. At first, I experimented with resin earrings, enjoying the process of designing and crafting unique pieces. But then, I took it a step further and started working with polymer clay, which gave me even more artistic freedom. The ability to handcraft bold, intricate, and completely customizable pieces reminded me of the creativity I love in nail art. It wasn’t just about making earrings—it was about combining my passion for nail art with wearable art in a new form.
This shift wasn’t just about adding another product to my lineup—it was about expanding my artistic expression and creating another revenue stream that complemented my nail business. Now, I can offer matching sets—custom press-on nails with coordinating earrings—so clients can express themselves through beauty and fashion in a cohesive way.
Looking back, pivoting to include handmade jewelry was one of the best decisions I’ve made. It allowed me to stay creative, attract a wider audience, and enhance my business at market events. Instead of feeling stuck during slow seasons, I now have more opportunities to connect with customers through different forms of art. This journey has reinforced the importance of being open to change, exploring new skills, and evolving as an artist and entrepreneur.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Looking back, I’m thankful that I made the move into a salon suite—it was a challenging but valuable experience that taught me discipline, financial management, and resilience. I had to navigate overhead costs, inconsistent income, and the pressure of running a business alone, but those lessons helped me grow both as a nail tech and an entrepreneur.
However, I’m also grateful for the freedom I have now without those high rent expenses. Not having the burden of salon overhead has allowed me to reinvest in my business in ways that truly benefit my clients—whether it’s offering more personalized services, creating custom nail art, or expanding into new creative ventures like handmade jewelry.
This shift has given me more flexibility, more control, and the ability to focus on what truly matters: delivering an incredible experience to my clients. It’s a reminder that every phase of the journey serves a purpose, and sometimes stepping away from traditional structures can open the door to even greater opportunities.
