We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bodhi Calagna. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bodhi below.
Bodhi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I had spent many years in the coaching and hypnotherapy field, achieving significant success with clients. Despite this, some individuals still struggled to make breakthroughs. Reflecting on my own personal growth journey, I found that Plant Medicine and Psychedelics, especially Psilocybin, played a pivotal role. Through personal healing ceremonies and microdosing, I experienced profound results. Inspired by this, I received training in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy and began conducting sacred ceremonies for long-term clients, witnessing remarkable transformations as they finally released obstacles and navigated through stagnant areas. Recognizing the impact, I decided to offer this service more widely. I’m grateful for this pivot; facilitating such transformative experiences is deeply fulfilling for both myself and those I guide.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Music has always been my greatest ally and medicine. Since the 90s, I’ve been a DJ immersed in the nightlife scene. Underground queer clubs and raves were my sanctuaries, where I felt the freest and safest to be myself. When I started DJing in 1992, it became my passion and consumed my life. For years, I perfected my craft, playing in local clubs in Lafayette, Louisiana, where I lived at the time. Eventually, I moved to Miami to chase the nightlife dream and began DJing on the radio, but I still yearned for the club scene.
I then returned to Louisiana, this time settling in New Orleans, where I secured my first major residency at a club called 735. This residency launched my career, leading to opportunities to perform in other cities. I played in numerous countries, remixed tracks for some of the industry’s biggest names, and produced dozens of underground dance tracks.
In 2014, I hit a wall. Touring and the music no longer brought me joy, and I found myself in one of the darkest periods of my life. I left South Florida and moved to Boulder, Colorado, to embark on a deep healing journey. Through years of introspection and personal growth, I created Remix Your World to support other artists feeling stuck, unmotivated, and uninspired. Remix Your World offers safe and therapeutic psychedelic-assisted therapy, hypnotherapy, and mindset coaching.
It’s incredibly rewarding. I love holding sacred mushroom ceremonies for people, as all my talents converge in these experiences, and the results are beautiful to witness.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Balancing two careers simultaneously is no easy feat. I continue to DJ, create music, and perform across the country while also dedicating myself to Remix Your World. In the early stages of building Remix Your World, it was incredibly challenging and draining, especially while still touring. I had to stay the course, knowing that this shift would ultimately shape my future career.
Having a platform in the music industry was beneficial for attracting initial clients, and I’m grateful for that. However, positioning myself in a new field when I was already well-known in another was tough. The slow pivot required immense patience, balance, and meticulous scheduling. I’ve had to turn down shows to hold ceremonies, and I vividly remember the fear that came with those decisions. Choosing to actively pursue a new path was daunting.
Even now, there are days when that fear resurfaces, but I trust in my journey and know where I am headed.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’m in the midst of a musical pivot right now. Over the last few years of holding ceremonies, my musical desires have shifted. I’m now focusing on creating music that is played in these sacred settings. I’ve developed an ambient alias called bodē, dedicated to making music for deep and healing spaces. Additionally, my dance moniker, CALAGNA, has evolved to focus more on deeper dance music, heavily influenced by medicine music and its artists. Ecstatic Dance has become my new form of church, inspiring me to create music for these spaces.
As an artist, I know how crucial it is to evolve, push past our comfort zones, and follow our hearts. I love the music I’m making now. It’s incredibly tender and rewarding to see how my current creations impact people in ceremonies and on new dance floors within the ecstatic dance community. While I’m unsure of where my musical journey will lead, I trust myself and am grateful for my courage to transcend my own limitations.
