We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bob Stock a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

We have some friends who saved our business by helping us rebook events we couldn’t take. If we had had to refund every one of them, it could have been really bad. They didn’t have to do it. Anthony and Chris with Epic Entertainment, could never Thank you enough.
Bob, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We are a DJ company for Weddings and Special events close to San Luis Obispo. I was a long time Southern California Club, Radio and event DJ who was performing everywhere I could. I always wanted to travel and was blessed with an opportunity to work on the cruise ships for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines in the 90’s. I spent over two years traveling and loved it! During one contract, I came to the Central Coast on a 6 week break and just never left. I met my beautiful wife Shannon, started a family, a new life and a new business. DJ Bob / DJBobslo.com is todays world and we have the privilege of being part of some amazing Weddings here. Helping Brides and Grooms put together the party and the Day they want is so Rad. What sets us apart? A big group of skills learned playing for every kind of crowd you can mix for. Being an MC is huge, the experience I got performing on the ships was key in shaping the way I approach it. We have to know who our clients are and what they really want their day to be. Best job ever :)
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
It’s not a secret, you have to have a network of people in the event industry who know you and refer you. It’s that simple, do everything you can to support other businesses, even other DJs and when you show up, be great. A positive connection is key. Proof? We’re 85% referral driven.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Social media is a monster, it’s a multi platform look at who we are. If all you do is sell, you’ll fail. Use reels and images from your day to day world to let the client see who you are. I try to post something from every event we do. The truth is I’m terrible at it compared to many companies but it’s part of everything we do.
