We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bob Roth. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bob below.
Bob, appreciate you joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
When I think about the legacy I hope to leave, it begins with one word: family. Family has been my greatest source of love, strength, and purpose. As a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew and grandfather someday g-d willing, I have always prioritized the people I love. My devotion to family inspired the creation of Cypress HomeCare Solutions. From the start, our mission has been deeply personal: to have our family serve other families. This ethos drives everything we do. We recognize that when someone invites a caregiver into their home, they are entrusting us with what matters most—their loved ones. That’s why we strive to deliver care that is not just professional but also compassionate and human centered.
Beyond family, I hope my legacy reflects a profound impact on how we care for older adults, one of the most vulnerable populations. Seniors often face challenges like food insecurity, housing instability, inadequate healthcare access, and loneliness. Rising costs, a caregiver shortage, and an aging population demand innovation, collaboration, and commitment.
My goal has been to reshape care delivery by balancing innovation with humanity. Through incredible teams and strategic partnerships, I’ve contributed to developing new care models, such as on-demand and fractional caregiving solutions, to virtual care assistants. These innovations provide families with greater flexibility, affordability, and access to quality care while addressing the caregiver shortage. Intergenerational living is another concept I’ve championed, creating supportive environments for seniors while easing caregiving burdens.
Policy advocacy has also been a significant focus. The economic strain caregiving places on families is immense. I have worked to support legislation providing caregiver oversight to financial relief and resources for family caregivers, such as tax credits, addition dollars added to our State’s budget for Home and Community based services and caregiver stipends.
Caregiving, at its core, is relational, not transactional. Building trust, fostering connections, and honoring dignity are essential. While technology and innovation enhance efficiency, they must never overshadow the human connection that defines caregiving.
As I reflect on my journey, I’m deeply grateful to the family, colleagues, caregivers, and community partners who have supported and inspired me. Together, we’ve made a difference, and I’m optimistic about what lies ahead.
Ultimately, I hope my legacy will be defined by two things: my love for family and my commitment to creating a better world for seniors and their families. I want to be remembered as someone who reimagined caregiving—a person who challenged the status quo, found innovative solutions, and kept the human element at the forefront.
“Bob Roth was a loving family man and an agent of change. He dedicated his life to reimagining elder care, blending innovation with compassion, and empowering families to thrive. Through his efforts, he left the world a little better than he found it.”

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For those who may not be familiar with me or my story, my journey into the home care industry was not something I ever planned. When I began my journey into the consumer product goods business in June of 1984, I would have never thought that one of my parents would have a major health event. It was on January 2, 1985 (6 months after I started my new job with The Quaker Oats Company), my life and everyone in my family’s life would take an unexpected turn when we became caregivers for our mother. Our mom suffered a major heart attack and never was quite the same after that. During the next 18 years, I along with my family navigated the challenges and rewards of providing care for a loved one. It was an experience that changed my perspective and ultimately my career trajectory.
Our family’s caregiving journey didn’t stop there. A little less than 3 years ago, we had the honor of caring for our dad during the final year and half of his life. It was a profound and humbling experience—a true blessing that reinforced why I do what I do. These personal experiences gave me a deep understanding of the challenges families face and a passion for creating solutions to make their journey easier and more dignified.
In 1994, my family and I founded Cypress HomeCare Solutions, a company built on the idea of families helping families. My brother Joe ran the business for its first 10 years, setting a strong foundation. For the past 21 years, I’ve had the privilege of being at the helm, leading Cypress with a clear mission: to provide exceptional care that allows seniors to age in place safely, comfortably, and with dignity.
At Cypress HomeCare Solutions, we offer a range of services tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. These include personal care, companionship, meal preparation, transportation, medication reminders, and respite care for family caregivers. But beyond the services we provide, what truly sets us apart is our approach. We view caregiving as relational, not transactional. It’s about building trust, fostering connections, and delivering care with compassion and respect.
One of the key problems we solve is alleviating the overwhelming stress that often falls on family caregivers. Many families feel unprepared for the complexities of caregiving, and our goal is to be their trusted partner. We provide not only hands-on care but also guidance, resources, and emotional support to help families navigate this journey.
What distinguishes Cypress HomeCare Solutions is our commitment to innovation combined with a relentless focus on the human aspect of caregiving. For example, we’ve embraced technologies like virtual care assistants, remote monitoring, electronic visit verification (EVV) and advanced care management tools to ensure accountability and transparency. We’re also pioneering on-demand and fractional caregiving models, which offer families greater flexibility and affordability. But through it all, we remain grounded in the belief that caregiving is first and foremost about people, not processes.
I am incredibly proud of the impact Cypress has had over the past three decades. We’ve touched countless lives, not just those of our clients but also their families, caregivers, and community partners. I’m particularly proud of the culture we’ve built—one that values empathy, respect, and teamwork. Our caregivers are the heart of our organization, and we’re committed to supporting them with training, resources, and a work environment that recognizes their vital contributions.
For me, it all comes back to family. The experiences of caring for our mom and dad, and now helping other families care for their loved ones, have been the driving forces behind everything I do. My journey into this industry may have been accidental, but it has been purposeful every step of the way. It’s about leaving a legacy of compassion, innovation, and a commitment to making life better for seniors and their families.
To anyone considering our services or simply looking for guidance in their caregiving journey, I want you to know this: At Cypress HomeCare Solutions, we understand what you’re going through because we’ve been there. We’re here to lighten your load, provide exceptional care, and walk alongside you every step of the way. Together, we can ensure that your loved ones receive the care and dignity they deserve.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Resilience is often defined by how we navigate and adapt during challenging times, and my journey with Honor Technology exemplifies this. I partnered with Honor believing their technology solutions could address a critical aspect of home care—ensuring a reliable caregiver pipeline. Initially, the partnership showed great promise, and we experienced significant growth. However, changes within Honor’s structure led to adjustments in our collaboration, and over time, we faced significant operational challenges.
One pivotal change removed a key connection between our care managers and the caregiver selection process, impacting the quality and consistency of care. This shift led to disruptions in our service delivery and strained our ability to meet the high standards we’d set for our clients. Despite these challenges, we were committed to staying true to our mission and values, which ultimately required making the difficult decision to end our partnership.
Starting anew, we faced the daunting task of rebuilding our operations from the ground up. Those early months were incredibly challenging as we worked to stabilize and regain momentum. To move forward, we embraced innovation, implementing machine learning and artificial intelligence to handle repetitive tasks. These tools allowed us to save significant time and focus our resources on what truly matters—building meaningful relationships with clients, families, and referral partners.
This experience taught me invaluable lessons about adaptability, perseverance, and the importance of staying aligned with one’s core mission. By leveraging technology thoughtfully and prioritizing human connection, we not only recovered but emerged stronger, with a renewed focus on delivering exceptional care. While the partnership ended and the journey was challenging, it reinforced my resilience and determination to pursue our goals despite obstacles. I value the insights gained through this experience and the opportunity to collaborate with some very talented individuals whose expertise deepened my understanding of innovation and its impact on the home care industry.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Managing a team and maintaining high morale requires intentional leadership and a commitment to building trust, fostering collaboration, and creating a culture where people thrive. Over time, my leadership philosophy has evolved, emphasizing resilience and adaptability in an industry where challenges arise daily. Here are the principles that guide me:
1. Lead with Excellence: A leader must inspire trust and confidence. Be excellent in your role—knowledgeable, reliable, and someone your team is willing to follow into the fire. Trust is the cornerstone of leadership, and it’s earned by consistently showing up and delivering.
2. Be a Starter and Doer: Leadership isn’t just about vision; it’s about action. Demonstrate that you’re willing to get your hands dirty and tackle challenges alongside your team. By modeling this behavior, you foster a culture of initiative and resilience.
3. Cultivate Situational Awareness: Understanding your environment and adapting your strategies accordingly is essential. In a dynamic industry, leaders must assess circumstances and adjust plans to navigate effectively.
4. Tap Into Team Emotions: Great leaders know how to harness the emotions of their team, turning adversity into opportunities for growth. Use these moments to inspire and drive your team to achieve results they didn’t think possible.
5. Love Your People: Care deeply about your team’s success and well-being. When you invest in their growth and support their goals, they’ll reciprocate by delivering exceptional care and service. My motto is: “Take care of your people, and they’ll take care of your clients.”
Finally, culture is the backbone of any organization. Build one rooted in core values—compassion, integrity, resilience, and teamwork. When culture thrives, so does morale. By focusing on excellence, collaboration, and value, leaders can inspire teams to overcome challenges and achieve great outcomes together.
