Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bob Mackey. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bob, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
In my opinion, consistency and grit are two vital critical components. However, developing a winning mindset and allowing it to transform the way you think and provide action leaves minimum room on the table for failure.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m the guy who was supposed to make it!
Raised by his grandmother, uncle, single mother, single stepdad, and
“whoever was off work at the time,” Mackey soon realized that the odds
were far from beneficial. From a small town in Center, Georgia. Bob was
in danger of becoming a drop-out statistic, and he did. Despite being
placed in an academic program for gifted students early, Bob spent much
of his school days in in-school suspension. Bob attended Clarke Central
High School and became the first and only child out of his six siblings to
drop out of high school. After receiving his GED from Athens Technical
College, Bob’s passion led him to become the only sibling to graduate
from college, receiving his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.
Regarding the industries that I find myself to be a part of, It was simply learning how to do the things that people complained about doing and getting good at those things. I stumbled into the film industry. My passion for improvement led me to be active in the community, and being a mentor to the next generation encouraged me to with youth.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson that I had to unlearn is that ” Hard work pays off” Hard work should pay you. The strategic work wins the race.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The ability to be a visionary is the most rewarding aspect. Not everyone has that ability. I believe many creatives do.
