BoardBoyMusic, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
Funny story actually the first time Kydo Chill Or Kri$Truth made their first dollar from their creatives was the middle of 2009. Kydo Chill had just released his second mixtape titled “ Rockets in my boombox “ and Kri$Truth just released his first mixtape titled “ Tha Infamous “. And at the time we were uploading our mixtapes to a few free mixtape websites, such as datpiff , live mixtapes , and mega uploads. But when we were local in our hometown, San Bernardino, California, we would pass out our mixtapes for free . But one day, our older cousin came to visit us and he always wanted to know when we were dropping more music. He was the local bootleg, DVD and CDs hustler in Victorville California at the time and when he came to see us, he handed us a few hundred bucks . He was secretly making his own mixtape versions of our music and selling them as the new hot music that was coming out whenever anybody asked “what new music you got” and he said he felt bad so he gave us some money for it. That’s why it’s a funny story..
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Sure, gladly. We are the collective/label
“BoardboyMusicWorldWide” founded in 2009 by Two Brothers, Kydo Chill and
Kri$Truth who are also two members from the autonomous “RocstarBoardboyz” a street regime created in 2005 , known for there trendsetting fashion , otherworldly music ect . RocstarBoardBoyz has been a strong influence in the fashion world and entertainment business for two decades now . BoardBoyMusic is the prime prodigal factor of what it means to have your own sound , look and vision. In short, these two brothers have been profound from mixing and mastering their own music ,owning their own music and masters ‘ sign in a distro deal with Symphonic Distribution in 2015 and still moving strong. These are just a few things that can be mentioned both artists have been releasing music since 2009 .Known for his witty approach, melodic texture in his music and his two infamous series “The Nightmare on 3rd st” and “Herringbone and Diamonds” Kydo Chill continues to lead strong with his musical presence. And known for his godly metaphors and celestial topics Kri$Truth never misses when it comes to bar for bar rap lyrics, being a super underrated lyricist he continues to show that he has the rap game within his clutch given us examples through The “ Voorhees Mode” Ep and is highly anticipated album for 2020 “$upreme $apien” . These two have been the bogeymen in the shadows of the rap game quietly climbing their way up to stardom and fame with a long list of hard work and dedication. The momentum is highly noticeable. We are most proud of the longevity, the ups and downs, an undying wish to not give up on our dreams ‘goals and visions.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect for us is that we get to bring people to our world through music .Look at it from the point of view of Alice in Wonderland and or the Dantes Inferno ect we give you a walk-through step-by-step of our life experiences through a psychedelic approach and high vibrational music as if you may contact with aliens themselves . We’re most proud of the fact that our music is great and once you listen, it’s like taking a drug you can never get enough.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Yes, most of the credit in those areas go to Kri$Truth. He leads in that area firmly. I remember when the book “The Secret “ came out an early 2000s and he would read it , along with other religious books such as the book of Enoch , there’s a ton of different philosophies and formulas that we manuscript and use to shape our life and move forward to ensure what we want to do to enhance our everyday life. We keep our nose in history, pop culture , ect you name it. We studied it and became students of the game.
