We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Blima Ehrentreu a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Blima, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, so one thing we think people don’t talk about nearly enough is investments – either time or money. What’s one of the best or worst investments you’ve made and what did you learned from the experience?
As the CEO of TDG, I can confidently say that investing in our team has been the best decision we have made as a firm. Not only has it increased our productivity and efficiency, but it has also greatly improved morale and fostered a positive work environment. Our team is empowered to think creatively and take risks, which has been a source of innovation and new ideas for the company.
Investing in the development and well-being of our team is essential to the success of TDG. We regularly assess and adjust our strategies to ensure that we meet the needs of the business and our team members. This has proven to be a valuable approach for us, and I would highly recommend it to other business owners.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
At TDG, we believe that referrals from our existing clients are the best source of new clients for our firm We strive to keep our clients happy and provide them with high-quality work, which often leads to them recommending us to their friends, colleagues, and business associates. We have also found that when people walk into spaces we have designed and are impressed by the work, it leads to referrals.
The TDG team approaches every project as if it will be the one that helps us to get our next project. We understand that every project is an opportunity to showcase our skills and capabilities, and we strive to exceed our client’s expectations on every job. We have built a strong reputation and generated new business through referrals by consistently delivering high-quality work and maintaining good relationships with our clients.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
I believe that effective communication, appreciation, a positive work environment, support and resources, work-life balance, and opportunities for growth are all important factors in managing a team and maintaining high morale. I strive to clearly communicate expectations and goals to my team and to be available to answer questions and provide support. I recognize and reward my team members for their hard work and contributions, and I work to create a positive and inclusive culture that promotes collaboration and respect. I also make sure my team has the tools and resources they need to be successful, and I encourage them to take breaks and prioritize their well-being. Additionally, I offer opportunities for learning and development and support my team members as they pursue their professional goals. By prioritizing these factors, I aim to create a positive and supportive environment that empowers my team to perform at their best.
