We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Blanca Frappier. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Blanca below.
Blanca, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I feel like everything happened for me at the time it was meant to. I’ve been acting since I was 5 and continued through my college years but took 16 years off to be a stay at home mom. When the kids were older, I discovered Audiobook narration and fell in love! While I do sometimes wonder what my life would be like if I had continued acting, I feel that this timeline allowed me to have phases of life that I have fully gotten to enjoy. And it feels like I’m in the right place at the right time right now!

Blanca, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m an audiobook Narrator and Producer and work primarily with indi authors. I recently was in The Next Dark Star (where over 100 narrators completed narration challenges, recieved coaching from top Narrators and Vocal coaches in the industry) and mad it to the top 7!).
My mission is to give authors an amazing experience collaborating on their brainchild to bring them to Audio. I want the authors to feel seen and heard and feel comfortable being put in the directors chair because they created these worlds and I want them to love the audio as much as I love their worlds and characters! I let the author be as involved as they would like to be. I love community and have found a wonderful home in the Narrator and author space and have loved the deep connections I have made.
What sets me apart? I can do 45 different voices, male and female (thank you PCOS for the deeper range) .
I’m most proud of the brand I have built. I always want to be authentic and true to who I am, to always be inclusive and kind, to respect mine and others boundaries, while also enjoying life to the fullest!

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I first started narration, the only time I had was 4am-7am. So I would wake up before the family at 3:30AM everyday to get some recording time in.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Post about their stuff, leave reviews, tell a friend about them! Many creatives stuggle with getting awareness about their works out . Do your research to make sure they are being paid fairly. For example, an Author or Narrator may only get 20% of what a book makes and that makes it hard for them to afford to keep creating.
