Blanca, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?

My God daughters name is Celine Casanova and we call her CC. I am obsessed with her and love the two letters together so I wanted to come up with a name with the same initials, that’s how Creative Canvas was born.

Blanca, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I’m Blanca Diaz, and I’m humbled to share my story with you. I was born in Cuba and immigrated to the United States when I was five years old. Watching my parents navigate a new country and build their lives from the ground up was incredibly inspiring. My father transitioned from being a janitor to re establishing himself as an architect and my mother giving up her career as a civil engineer to raise me and hold down our household. Their journey instilled in me a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for creating opportunities for others.

Professionally, I’m a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with over 12 years of experience working within the autism community. Supporting neurodiverse individuals isn’t just a career for me—it’s a calling. I’ve dedicated my life to advocating for and supporting those who see the world differently, ensuring they have the resources and opportunities to thrive.

My passion for creativity led me to establish Creative Canvas Studios. This isn’t just a photo studio in Miami; it’s a 3,000-square-foot creative hub designed for both professional and aspiring photographers and videographers. We feature state-of-the-art facilities, including a 25’x20′ cyclorama wall and a 20′ wall of arches, providing dynamic backdrops for a wide array of creative projects.

Our studio is fully equipped with high-quality lighting, podcast equipment, makeup stations, changing rooms, and a variety of photography props. We offer rentals for photoshoots, film productions, events, and workshops. But what truly sets us apart is our commitment to inclusivity and community engagement.

A cornerstone of our mission is to support and empower neurodiverse individuals. We regularly host free workshops and photoshoots for families affected by autism, providing a safe and supportive environment where they can express their creativity. These sessions are incredibly rewarding, fostering connections and understanding within the community.

I’m most proud of the positive impact we’ve made on both the creative and autism communities. Seeing families and individuals light up during our workshops, knowing they’ve found a space where they’re understood and celebrated, is the greatest reward. We’re not just a studio; we’re a community hub that believes in the power of art to bring people together.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to expand our offerings to include more sensory-friendly elements, making our space even more accessible to those with sensory sensitivities. We’re also exploring partnerships with local schools and non-profits to extend our reach, particularly within underserved communities.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

One of the most profound lessons I had to unlearn was the belief that I needed to have everything perfectly in place before taking a big step forward. Coming from a background with zero business experience and only a little exposure to the creative field, I often felt that I wasn’t ready to launch Creative Canvas Photo Studio Miami. The fear of imperfection and the unknown was paralyzing at times.

The backstory begins with a persistent dream of creating a space that blended my passion for supporting the neurodiverse community with the world of creative arts. Despite my doubts, I felt a strong pull towards making this vision a reality. I realized that waiting for the “perfect” moment or until I felt completely ready was just another way of holding myself back.

With faith as my anchor and the unwavering support of my family, I decided to take the leap—even if it meant doing it scared. I embraced the idea that not everything has to be flawless from the start and that it’s okay to learn as you go. Consistency became my mantra. Each day, I committed to taking small steps toward building the studio, learning from each experience, and adjusting along the way.

This journey taught me that courage isn’t the absence of fear but the decision to move forward despite it. By unlearning the need for perfection, I opened myself up to growth, opportunities, and the incredible fulfillment that comes from pursuing a passion. Establishing Creative Canvas Photo Studio Miami wasn’t just about creating a physical space; it was about embracing vulnerability, trusting the process, and believing in the power of community and support.

Today, I look back and see that taking that initial leap—scared and imperfect—was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It not only allowed me to bring my dream to life but also showed me the strength and resilience I didn’t know I had. I hope my story encourages others to step out in faith, lean on their support systems, and pursue their passions wholeheartedly, even when the path ahead isn’t perfectly clear.
