Hi Blakeli, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

Bloom Spa & Co was a dream I had when I was 19 in school to become an esthetician and I never thought it would become what it is today. I wanted to create a space that everyone can come to and enjoy some relaxation after a long day and get everything done all in one space. We strive to offer the best of the best services and continuously educate ourselves to ensure the best quality of services we can. When starting Bloom Spa, I was renting a small room inside a salon in Downtown Dalton and only dreamed of having an amazing team behind me. We now have a gorgeous 3,600 square foot space that houses incredibly talented injectors, hairstylists, massage therapists, estheticians, a nail technician and a nurse that offers IV hydration! We are still consistently expanding and now have Southern Surgical Arts Beauty Bar inside Bloom Spa! We are all extremely passionate about this field and we want to always make everyone feel welcomed and valued every time they step foot in the spa! We only wish to continue to be able to grow, so that we can make everyone feel a little more confident and beautiful when they leave!

Blakeli, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Bloom Spa & Co is a one stop spa! We have everything from facials and massages to hair, nails and teeth whitening and we now have Botox, filler and IV Hydration! We have estheticians that specialize in Microblading, Microneedling and a new state of the art Geneo Glo2Facial. Our massage therapist specializes in lymphatic massage and therapeutic medi-cupping, which are both amazing for pre and post op patients as well as those having any ailments. We also have hair stylists that specialize in hand tied extensions and Brazilian Blowouts, which smooth frizz and leave hair smooth and shiny! Not to mention our medical spa services such as Botox and fillers by injectors from Southern Surgical Arts and IV Hydration provided by a licensed nurse! There is nothing Bloom Spa can’t do and we only want to continue to offer more for our clients.

Has your business ever had a near-death moment? Would you mind sharing the story?

We were just getting our start in October of 2019 right before the pandemic. We had an incredible holiday season and we were so excited that things were really beginning to take off for us when COVID hit. Most of all appointments were slowly getting canceled due to fear of exposure, until all spas/salons finally had a mandatory closure set by the government. I had just started the business, so there was no capital left and we still had bills to cover. Unsure of anything, we applied for every economic relief fund and got denied for all of them and unemployment was not an option at the time. Luckily, we have amazing clients that only wanted to help and they bought gift cards to be used at a later date and we made enough through those sales to be able to push through until we were able to open once again! Our clients are truly like family to us and they mean more to us than they will ever know because they truly helped us keep our doors open in such an unsure time.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

I started Bloom Spa before social media was what it is today! Social media had a very small impact on growing your clientele, now it’s the biggest marketing strategy for us! From Instagram to TikTok a lot of our clients contact us because of something they saw on one of our platforms. Getting started was extremely tough because it was solely word of mouth that got you clients in the door, so it really has come such a long way in just a few short years!
