We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Blake Ricchetti a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Blake, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I think being determined, consistent and unique are important to being successful. When I first started, I was in a small shared studio space. I had no idea how I was going to get my own space but I was determined to make it happen. I stayed consistent with the quality of my jewelry and did not fold regardless of what others thought. Being unique in this industry is so important, which is why I only offer solid gold and sterling silver. I’m not in the business of cutting corners. It’s about quality over quantity for me.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As the owner of LETS GET ZAPPED, I have over 6 years in the jewelry industry. It’s important for clients to know that I specialize in solid gold jewelry that will last. I don’t cut any corners when it comes to the quality of permanent jewelry services that I provide. Often in this industry, you will see other permanent jewelers offering gold-plated and gold-filled and not using the right equipment or not taking the right steps to ensure the jewelry has been properly welded. I want my clients to know that I value my craft and stand by the quality of all my jewelry.
The most exciting part of my job is seeing the joy on clients face when they come into my studio. I have a custom name wall that is tailored for each appointment. The smile it brings is priceless and it’s such a great feeling knowing that my client is walking away with a piece of jewelry that is going to last.
Recently, I expanded my services to include custom, handmade charms that clients can pre-order. This includes anything from custom name plates to charms to letters. It’s been such an amazing experience to grow LETS GET ZAPPED.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think, one, having insider knowledge of the fine jeweler industry as a whole has helped me build a reputation for myself but two, is never cutting corners. I’m very big on quality and making sure that I only sell the best of the best chain styles. I also have my own loft where clients know that they can always swing by. I’m also very transparent and answer any questions clients have throughout the process.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Consistency is key with anything in life. Over the last 1 year, LETS GET ZAPPED has begun to be more consistent with posting on all social platforms. Each social media platform provides a different demographic of people and I think it’s important to evaluate where you think your business is best suited. For me and my business it’s Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and surprisingly YouTube shorts. A piece of advice I would give to someone starting out is to come up with a solid social media posting schedule. Sit down with yourself and realistically plan out what days you want to film and edit content. Even if it’s twice or three times a week, just be consistent and don’t give up. Instagram is a large platform that is ever changing so don’t beat yourself up if you feel like your content is getting that many interactions.
